Which 2" and 3" pads to purchase?

Hi everyone, as the title says I'm looking to add a line of 2" and 3" polishing pads to the line-up and am stuck on which ones to go with. Durability is a big concern of mine. I've searched but didn't come up with any recent threads regarding this topic and would like up to date recommendations due to the recent release of a few new pad lines after SEMA.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I doubt you could use 2" pads on that as it's a 3" machine,
but you could use 2" pads on a 2" pneumatic like the Rupes TA50 or similar.

For 2" pads you have a choice of LC HT pads in 3 colors plus a MF one also by LC All available through AG, or call Autopia and get it from them.
Lake Country Hydro-Tech 2 x 1/2 Inch Foam Pads
2 Inch Ultra-Fiber Dual Action Microfiber Pad (2-Pack)

Or 2" Meguiars ones in a similiar setup available through Kevin Brown.

For 3" pads LC HT,
Lake Country Hydro-Tech 3 x 1.25 Inch Foam Pads
Also the new 3" LC Flat pads.
Lake Country 3 Inch Flat Pads 6 Pack - You Pick!

LC also has 3" CCS pads which to my knowledge are available elsewhere, as PBMG don't carry them yet.
Lastly, 3M also have their own line of 3" pads.

Edit:
I'll be darned, as I was typing this on the sister forum Mike Philips just introduced 1" 2" & 3" pads by Flex
Which will be available next week. :)

Thanks for the reply, I was looking at the HT's but wasn't sure about going forward with them due to the durability issues some users have experienced. Have you had any experience with them?

As of now I would only be needing 3" pads for the 3M Pneumatic but was contemplating picking up the HF 2" to have on hand as well.

I saw the KB 3" pads but wasn't aware of any reviews on them. I know his 2" pads seem to get good reviews from what I've seen.

I guess I'll wait a little and see what the Flex pads are like and place my order then.

If anyone else has any input it would be greatly appreciated.

Only Exp with LC HT in 5 1/2", not the smaller ones.
The 3" CCS I read are durable, but not sold here.(let me know if you need a pm)
For the 2" pads you need a 2" BP, doubt 3M has that for their machine.

I have years of experience with the Lake Country Hydro-Shreds ( they shed on a Rotary eventually, but hardly ever on anything else)..

They are great for most correction ( the Cyan is the most aggressive), and finish down incredibly well, Cyan or Tangerine..

They are firm and dont absorb your product easily which is a benefit for getting the most performance out of your product on the paint..

The company went on to make another version of them that was thinner, so it would Im guessing, spin easier on random orbitals, and that is a great idea for random orbital users..

I like that there are only 3 choices - Cyan for initial correction on the worst cases, Tangerine on lighter damaged, softer, paint, and Red for finest finishing or applying an LSP, etc...

I use Rotary Power only so I want to have the best performance albeit they shred after awhile, and get excellent results, and this has been my experiences with these 3 since they first were introduced almost 10 years ago (???) or so...

Good luck !

I saw some photos a couple weeks back on the Flex North America facebook about these on the P8. They looked awesome. Makes me want a PE8 just to use them.

Thanks for the input guys. Would my best bet to cover most aspects for 3" use is to get some FlashPads for the heavy cutting and then get the polishing and finishing HydroTech pads to take care of the other levels of cut? Therefore I would have most of my cut levels covered and I wouldn't have to deal with the problems sometimes associated with the HydroTech Cyan pads.

Would a 3" wool pad be useful or will the flash pads rival their cut close enough?

Have a happy new year!
