Where do you buy your products?

Came here thinking that you guys were buying "Detail Level" cleaning products that aren't easily found in stores such as Advances Auto, Checkers, Pep Boys and Auto Zone.

Over the last couple years I have been really impressed by what the body shop down the street could do with my Black Truck when they polished it. I noticed that they used 3M for a lot of their products and was shocked to hear that so many of you use O-T-C products here (Do you guys get good results)?

Anyway, just looking to see where you all get your products and whether or not you get what you are paying for. Thanks.

Aloha, Jason

I by products from our sponsers on the left. I by meguiars professional line, poorboys, pinnacle, 4* and optimum. I dont really by much OTC stuff.

Jason,

While a lot of people here are Professional detailers I think that there are a large number of enthusiests here as well. I think that a large majority of the products we use are "Professional Grade" and I don't think its a question of weather a product is "O-T-C" or not.

I think that all of the products we discuss are fairly easy to come by its just a matter of knowing th right places to go!

www.premiumautocare.com
www.autogeek.net
www.poorboysworld.com

to just name a few (which also happen to be sponsors of this website) there are many other companies which people order from as well but pretty much if one of those three don't have it .. its going to be tough to find!

and if you can't find it ... shoot an e-mail over to Dwayne at premium auto care and he will get it for you! He's a good guy like that!

You might also want to check out www.pakshak.com thats a place located on Honolulu so shipping may not be as bad for you and I think you may find that he has all the products you may ever want!

As for answering your question of "Do you guys get good results?" If there is one thing that I have learned its that 99% of detailing a car is using the proper aplication methods and the right steps. The other 1% is the type of products! I have seen a car waxed with $2.99 turtle wax picked up at walgreens or Kmart and have better results than a guy who just spent $200.00 on "professional grade" detailing supplies!

I'm a weekend detailer so all of what I buy is from the sponsors and local detail suppliers. The results that I get from PB line are as good if not better in some cases as the 3M line that I was using before. I think that the products that I have learned about here and have started using have improved my finished product 150%

The sponsors can get you everything you will ever need. I mostly order from Autogeek and they're great. They ship things fast and if you have any problems or questions they're quick to help. Good prices too. PAC is also good, and SMP has a lot of great stuff that you can't get many other places, clearkote in particular. Poorboys world is a nice site (provided you have PayPal) and Steve has the new products on their a month or two before the rest of the vendors, you've gotta love factory direct.

how do we get 10% off if we order online from our sponsers? i would like to try out PB wheel sealent. My wheels need a sealent since they have a deep dish. brake dust just collects for days on that lip.

Most sponsors give a 10% discount for using "detailcity" in their coupons section. Not all sponsors give this discount, though.

I use wcdetail.com, exceldetail.com

10% discounts do not tend to sway me, but it is better than a poke in
the eye I suppose.

Autogeek.net, Premium Auto Care, Bettercarcare.com and autopia store
Also get four star, clearkote and pakshak products directly.

They are all good people to deal with

From autogeek, fortunately they're local to me. I usually end up forgetting to get the 10% discount, and last time I ordered from them I was getting two Poorboy's products on sale from them and they were so cheap I was too embarrased to ask for the DC discount on top of their sale price.

Autogeek rocks :headbang

That is cool, it's like having a Homedepot in your backyard.

Autogeek! I'm new to the world of detailing and have ordered from Autogeek 2x. Each time I phoned them to order, as opposed to ordering via internet, cuz I had questions. Each time they have been fabulous in helping me determine what I need and answering 'technical' questions.

Good customer service. Good prices. And friendly people!

:D
