When you all buy a product that you end up not liking, what do you do with it?

I recently bought Sonax Rim Shield. I have to say that I am not impressed with this product whatsoever. I don`t buy very many things that I don`t like. But there was a few products this year that I purchased and I simply didn`t like them. They did not live up to the expectation that I expected. And I said to myself that if this ever happens again, I`m asking for a refund, or credit for something else. So I have a question for all of you. I know there`s products out there that you bought and you end up not liking it. I`m curious what do you do with that product?

I have a few options I usualy go through.

  • Trade them for other products. (Usually someone else wants it)
  • .
  • Give them away. (Family and friends usually love this stuff because it`s so much better then what they usually use)
  • .
  • Use on a detail for someone else. (Most people are impressed with anything)
  • .
  • Trash it. (I know it costs money but if I really hate it, after awhile it gets tossed)

i usually just sit it on the shelf in the back out of the way. I have sit some stuff back that I didn`t like and tried it again way later and liked it, so dont through it away

I always find some use for it. I have used products like that around the house and on my lawn equipment.

it becomes a "oh I ran out of (usual chemical), well.. I guess in a pinch I can use (that chemical I didn`t like)" situation for me most of the time.

So yeah, somewhere in the closet for a while, that or I pass it to a friend that is looking for a similar chem and tell them to try it and let me know what they think (second opinions!).

The only product I got that I asked for a refund for was CarPro Reload because it just didn`t work at all. Other than that all the products I have bought I have found to be useful. Some may not be as good as others, but that is true of almost everything. I bought some PB Wheel Wax when I first started it was a bogo and it is a pain to apply and remove, but it works as advertised. It goes on the backof the shelf and will probably never be used again. With the advent of coatings and spray on sealants, any type of wheel wax is not a product I would use or recommend. You can`t return a product just because you don`t like it. Some products are easier to work with than others and experiencing a bad/difficult product will make you better in the long run. I read reviews about products before I buy them and know what I am getting, usually, lol.

@Rlm
I love PB wheel sealant.
Not on my vehicle wheels but my John Deere tractor thanks me every year. Those yellow rims look awesome and they hose right off.

You can`t return a product just because you don`t like it.
That is actually not true for many (if not most) of the products we are discussing, they usually are backed by unconditional money-back guarantees if you aren`t 100% satisfied.

The problem I have is that it is sometimes just not worth my time and money to return something I bought online. If it came from a local store I can just walk in and slap it on the counter, but if I have to pack something up properly and ship it back, the cost of doing that can outweigh the value of getting my money back.

That shipping thing on the money back guarantee stops me from even trying to return anything. Even companies that promise free return shipping make is extremely painful to return an item to get your money back. Worx is a brand I will never buy again because of this. The guarantee is only as good as the company backing it. I would like to trade the PBs Wheel Sealant, it does work and someone might get some use out of it, I`m just too lazy to box it up and take it to the post office. Now if an Autopia member is in the South GA area and wants to pick it up I will be more than happy to give it away. I really hate to see things go to waste. By the way, once you get PB Wheel Sealant on a tire what will remove the pink stain other than time?
