When is it enough ?

Unlike many of you I'm from the old school where unless it was Simonize or Turtle wax you were not waxing or detailing your car the right way. I'm still learning about some of this new wax or whatever it is on the market today that helps make your pride and joy shine like a new born tadpole in the moon light.

Some of you know I have really become hooked on the Duragloss products. Mainly the AW, 105 and the 652 PC #2 cleaner. Yesterday I placed multiple coats of each on my Silver Tacoma and it looks beautiful but my question is this.... If you do a good job of cleaning the paint with 652 and then use several coats of 105 and then several coats of AW are you doing a good thing or are you waseting the product and your time. In other words are to many coats of any product just a waste because you may just be removing part of the last coat, or does it really layer on top of each coat and last longer? Mike

Well, as Mod Bill D has said about layering products, it is perhaps the enjoyment and relaxation of doing it that is more important than the "scientific" aspect of what is going on. (Sorry if I paraphrased you badly, Bill!)

You have to remember that a lot of the people here have OCDD (Obsessive Compulsive Detailing Disorder) :buffing: :buffing: :buffing: :buffing: :LOLOL

The ROT on here and other forums is 2-4 layers before the law of "diminishing returns" kicks in on most products. Many do 2 coats primarily for coverability. Keep in mind that not all products are layerable.

 Thanks guy's and I really like the replies! I have to admit the feel of that soft cloth gliding over that pride and joy vehicle of mine does feel good as I caress every little square inch. It's not a Porsch but it gets me there and back just as well and as reliable.

Gotta take care of her, :bigups

as with anything some are more extreme than others. A couple coats of sealant and a monthly touch up with AW is plenty. the only advantage of more layers is filling of imperfections.

Thanks Wannafbody. That's what I was thinking also. The last time I used the AW over Mothers wax/cleaner and it did a beautiful job but not as nice as the this Duragloss cleaner, wax and AW . I figure it should last a while even after going through the mud and water in these mountains. I'll just wash it and spray with AW and polish as needed. This fall before the bad weather hits I'll wax her again with a few coats of 105 and AW.

Well, that all may be a lie because I do like playing with my Tacoma and having her look good. I just may have to do a big time Duragloss to her again BEFORE fall :waxing: :hifive: Mike
