Wheel cleaner = Tire cleaner ?

I can't find a Tire cleaner, people here say that Eagle One is a good tire cleaner, but I went to their site, guess what ,no tire cleaners only wheel cleaners :nixweiss

I was trying to find a tire cleaner that won't damage my clear coated alloy wheels.

Thanks :xyxthumbs

A lot of people use EO A2Z as tire and wheel cleaner. It works well for both things. I got some Mother's Rubber and Tire cleaner and it works very well as a dedicated tire cleaner. It's milder than A2Z so will not strip off whatever sealant you put on your wheels.

I like Simple Green and a stiff bristle brush. It works very well. Avoid using Simple Green around porous and metal that isn't sealed or coated. Ajax and a brush also works very well. I haven't found a tire cleaner that works very well without the brush. I believe that is the most important part of the combo.

The new Dupont wheel and tire cleaner works great on tires. Eagle One A2Z or All Wheels and Tires or whatever they're calling it lately also works great on tires.

Without question a stiff scrub brush is key to getting tires completely clean. I just cleaned mine tonight with some old Eagle One Tire Cleaner (the best car care product ever made IMO) and eventhough my tires weren't all that dirty, they still needed brush cleaning.

I agree - scrubbing it with a brush seems to be important.

A2Z is a very strong wheel AND tire cleaner, but for routine cleaning I like to use a dedicated tire cleaner (like Mothers) to clean them separately. Tire cleaners seem to have more in common with soap/detergent than wheel cleaning chemicals I think. A2Z is a good dual-purpose product and won't damage the wheels if you use it properly though.

~One man’s opinion / observations ~

I’ve never been a big fan of a product that will clean both a soft rubber and a semi-hard metal.

A brush is definitely the key to cleaning wheels/tyres, as is cleaning the rubber before applying a tyre dressing.

There is an impartial report on tyre / wheel cleaners put out by Gurureorts.org “Wheel & Tire Care that would answer your questions and so provide lots of information.

~Hope this helps~
