Wheel cleaner question?

I know you dont want to get Wheel cleaner on Carbon ceramic brake rotors but what about carbon pads? Should you worry about that?

just be careful, and if you do get it on somewhere you don't want it, spray it down with the hose. go to your local big lots and they have the megs multi-piece rims wheel cleaner (orange bottle) that is safe for ALL wheels, brake components, etc. IIRC it was $3.50...

Noting that there are a *lot* of very different wheel cleaners out there (and that I usually use mild ones like P21s and Griot's), I've never worried about getting them on brake components and I've never had any problems.

Wouldn't optimum power clean be safe?

yes, i'm sure it would (still have to play it safe). it's safe on paint, engines, leather, upholstery, carpet, etc. that will be my next purchase...

I'd be interested to know more about this - CC rotors and pads are turning up often down here, and to be honest, I stick with soap and water and avoid dressing the wells. What products are approved for use on CC rotors and pads, and what techniques can be used to avoid long-term failure of brake components?

I've seen the pricelist on Porsche's setup, and I'd sure hate to have to pay out to replace one.

A while back I read on the forum a good tip, use 4 ounces of CG citrus wash and gloss in a quart sprayer and you have an excellant, ph balanced wheel cleaner that is equal to P21 at far less money. I'm all about saying money so I tried it, works great!
