What's wrong with this picture?

I did the following steps to the side of my fx to get rid of some scratches the dealer put in while washing:

clay with zaino

menz 106ff

Ip II

menz glaze

fmj

3 coats of p.s.

My problem you can see from the pics is that when I pull it out into the sun, I get these marks. I don't know if that is considered a hologram or not. I think maybe I am using too much wax. When I use a QD after, the marks disappear. Any suggestions?

Only apply one layer of carnauba at a time. Wash before applying the second layer. Otherwise you can get smearing like that.

106 and FPII is kinda redundant (?)

I don't think so; I get great results with the 106 and then the FPII kinda boosts the shine. I just started using the glaze, and I love it too!

106ff yields a better shine than FPII. At any rate using them both would be redundant as they're both finishing polishes.

Spray some QD on the panel and wipe gently with an MF towel, if these marks disappear then it is as Scott suggested above - streaking from too much wax being applied to the panel in one go.

If the marks dont budge, they may actually be light marring as suggested later in the thread. Check very carefully your mf towel if this is the case, as these can marr paint if slightly dirty espeically if you have a slightly stubborn wax residue and you've used pressure to remove it.

SpoiledMan is right, 106FF finishes down finer than FP2. IIRC, it's also supposed to have better cut. 106FF is a different generation of polish, and one of the top choices on the market. If it's looking like FP2 is finishing down finer, then just try a little more work with 106FF and that should do the job even better.

...or you can get rid of that useless overpriced 106ff and get something that works better. I'll trade you a bottle of FPII?;)
