Whats the quickest time you've bought & sold the same vehicle?

I bought this last Thursday for $2500 and sold it yesterday for $7500.

Anyone else? I was just curious.

How did you sell it for that much more? I wouldnt give you $7000 for that POS.

I have a buddy that can sell a car in just three days of owning it. You would think that car was on overhaulin or something with how much its in and out of the shop before its sold.

Haha! Yeah I detailed it. It needed a few tiny

fixes that I did myself. Blue book said it was just over

7800. I thought that was kind of high. The truck

had 38k miles on it and was a 2001.

It was a nice running, good looking truck

when it left.

Its amazing at how attached you can make someone to a really well cleaned up car. Most cars are so trashed, even at car dealerships, that if you have a clean one, a buyer will be falling all over him/herself to buy it, regardless of price. I have sold 4 vehicles in the past year, and in 3 of 4 case, the people didn't even negotiate because they were so in love with the car.

I love looking at Craigslist and all the car that are posted without even being washed. If you can't bother to wash it for the picture, how well did you take care of it?

That said, you can make some pretty good money buying cars from people who are in a hurry to sell and cleaning them up and flipping them.

yep, I got a car from my sister that was in ok mechanical shape, needed a new exhaust and cat but engine was good and tranny had been rebuilt 10k miles prior, the paint and interior were trashed...I used the car for a good 6-8 months and painted the chipped areas and wiper blades and things like that, car looked alright but the bumpers were faded (black plastic bumpers...), thats how I found autopia. cleaned the car and put 303 on it (made it really look new) and listed it on craigslist. I had a dude call me up and immediately start chipping away at the price, I flatly told him, "come see the car first". when he showed up he said, and I quote, "I didn't expect such a crappy car to look so good", test drove it and came back and said he didn't have enough money for it and would bring me the other $250 (that he kept trying to negociate down to) later that week. he did and I was happy to be rid of the car. btw, bluebook was $1250 in perfect condition, I sold it for $1500 w/o a/c (usually a deal killer in Houston)

Yeah, I always have people try to talk me down via email, I even started putting in a statement at the top of my post saying, don't bother sending offers via email because I won't respond, come look at the car and then we can negotiate.

Buying and selling is simply finding a willing seller and buyer and then a willing seller and buyer. There is not set price for anything.

My record is two weeks... never had intentions of selling any of my cars really... but been through 10+ in the last year and a half...

I keep my cars until the repair costs start to exceed the payments on something new.

This is, from a financial perspective, the most efficient method of owning a vehicle.

My personal record is 3 days... but it was from and to a junkyard.

I had 5 other 1979-85 RX-7's in my driveway, and needed another parts car. I was basically making a Frankenstein, out of 5-6 cars, into one good one. I bought a 1984 from one junkyard for $300, pulled the engine, tranny, both seats, and the dash, and sold it to a different junkyard for $500.
