what's the most OVERPRICED product?

in your opinion.. what's the most OVERPRICED product you've used, and what alternative have you found that gives equal if not better results for less money?

For me, it's ZCS. IMO, it's a lot of money for a product with no looks and what seems like only average durability. The alternative is any of the better spray LSPs like OCW, UQW and Zaino's own Z8. They're so easy to use that I have no need for a WOWA product, anyway.

OS is reportedly a better product than CS, though I've never tried it.

The Bentley Flying Spur, which is a turboed, reskinned VW Phaeton with 26% identical overall part content.

Ah, detailing supplies, waxes... when you know the physical composition of a paste wax, then you know the limits, you know the approx. cost of the ingredients per jar, therefore any Swizym überwax. Every other factor is just psych... it's worth the price IF YOU BELIEVE the tales around it. Money works exactly the same way. People think and believe a bank note is worth the numbers printed on it. Since money doesn't have the gold reserve, it's made of air, or aerogel, if you want something physical.

IMO Victoria Waxes have the healthiest formulation/performance/price balance in the "pure paste" category. Luckily, no one "invented" a sealant with a diamond glass bottle/golden spout combo - yet.

Others: "special" detailing brushes (also with fancy brand names).

Anything made by Zymol. Sure it looks great when first applied, however if you actually drive the car or get rain on it, it looks worse than $20 collinite. Zaino is pretty overpriced when you consider Duragloss has functional equivalents for 1/2 the price and no shipping if you have a Carquest near you.

Even if there is no Carquest (or Federated Auto Parts) near you you can order all the Duragloss you want for a mere $5.00 direct from Duragloss.com.

Don't have much input for this thread because I've never really use any expensive stuff. I look at click N brags and see what looks good and stick to it if it works for me...But I'd say zymol products and Dodo Juice products.

Great post Bence. I love the analogy to bank notes, and the fact that the only reason they work is because everyone believes!

Zymöl Vintage... Probably the most disappointing wax I've ever used. If it had above-average durability and could hold a shine better I could see more of a value in it, but the simple fact is that the glass container it comes in is more valuable than the wax and its performance.

Grit guard. It has about a $1 of plastic. They just have the patent and get the right to charge more.

No doubt. I ended up making my own out of overhead light grating.

CARNAUBA:Any high-end - exotic carnaubas from Swissvax, Zymol, Dodo Juice etc.

The low-mid ones are OK for me.

Swissvax's lowest-end ONYX is my favourite when I wanna reach for a carnauba.

NON-CARNAUBA:Megs NXT2 - looks nice on well-prepped surfaces, but lousy durability. Fantastic graphics though.
