Whats the definition of "Concours"

"Denotes an elegant gathering of vehicles, usually in a park or lawn atmosphere. Typically used to describe the highest quality restoration, one that can be inspected with white gloves and still come away clean."

Concours generally refers to car owners who detail their cars to the point where they could be entered into shows. The process of detailing one's car to this point is very long, tiresome, and tedious...to say the least. An example of "concours detailing" would be thoroughly cleaning the engine, underbody, and in the suspension area in addition to "normal detailing".
It's a fact that Autopia in its infancy mostly focused on concours detailing, but has moved more toward the enthusiast side of the spectrum.

One other point, since we are talking about it. The emphasis in Concours is also authenticity.
For you and me, that means skipping the shiny stuff on the tires--even though they might look better with it. At the highest levels, it means those 80-year old ratty looking (but original) seats in a car with drop-dead gorgeous paint make more sense than your eyes are telling you.

I'll agree that originality is critical but I can guarantee you that nobody on the lawn at Pebble Beach will have ratty looking seats.BoxsterCharlie said:
By a stroke of luck I had the opportunity of getting a very close look at the Bugatti that won Best in Show this year's Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. It was spectacular.
