Well, i'm waiting for my brother to sell my new Sony PSP on ebay so i can use the money & buy my PC + propel pads but in the mean time, I really really want to do "SOME kind of mini detail" to my car.

I was thinking about doing the Mother's 3 step system but instead of step 1, I want to know if there is a better OTC polish that is EFFECTIVE for *hand use*?

Please share your ideas bcuz my anticipation for the PC is killing meee! An I need to do *something* to my car :nervous2:

Thanks,

The BEST and ONLY consumer polish is Mothers PowerPolish (MPP).

Replace step 1 with MPP and then glaze and wax.

Its an amazing polish that rivals most pro polishes I've used.

The great thing (for you) is that it can be used by hand and by PC, when you get one, for a better result.

I was gonna say Meg's #80, but since Alfisti has probably used all the stuff that I've used, I'd just take his advice and go with the Mother's.

Sorry Jeff, I meant that's its the only effective CONSUMER polish.

#80 is very good, and while its available OTC in some places, it's still a pro polish. (Thanks Accumulator. :up)

MPP is meant for the mass consumer with very little learning curve, producing pro results.

I must correct myself here, though. *MPP is not formulated for hand use.* My apologies for misleading everyone. That doesn't mean it won't work by hand, but its meant to be used by machine.

I still feel MPP would be the choice for hand use in the same manner as #80. MPP tends to break down quicker than #80, so my guess would be it would work easier.

I've used ScratchX by hand and with the PC/Propel Green polishing pad with great results. Just make sure it's completely broke down.

Dag nabbit!

I went to my local Autozone, Pep-Boys, Wal-mart, Target, Carquest, NAPA, Finishmaster, & Lee Auto Parts to get get Mother's power Polish and none of them had it! At pep-boys, they did have Stage 2 Mother's power Wax but no Power Polish.

What's goin' on?

Well, How about Meguiar's ScratchX vs. Mother's Power Polish for effective *Hand* application results because as I mentioned earlier that i don't have my PC *yet*. I do got a bottle of ScratchX & can't seem to get the elusive Powerpolish. please help.

Thanx

Scratch X is a good product to use by hand. However if you wanted to remove defects on a whole car by hand expect a Arnold work out. I don't care which polish you use its just difficult by hand. SctrachX is about equal in polishing ability to #80, but it tends to gum up when used by a machine. The reason people was recomending power polish is that it does not have this problem. You probably will need to get Power Polish when you get your PC. The PepBoys in California has it so you just might have to check another Pepboys as the one you goto just might of ran out.
