What's the best method of removing

Leaf blower.

Clean snow from tailpipe area and hopefully u have a remote start that works!

Heat from engine will help melt off .005 of an inch!

Patience, time & dedication

I just cleaned up about 4 inches of snow (NJ) from both of my cars (black Acura and silver minivan). I have a black car for the first time and am paranoid of putting scratches into it. Because my snow was only 4 inches and had only a moderate weight to it, it went relatively fast.

I found that a sharp angle to the car worked best as it allowed the air to lift the snow off of the car without causing it to slide. For 20 inches of snow, I would probably try to take it off in layers.

Your arm may get tired from the leaf blower so take rests rather than accidentally hitting the car with it.

Good luck.

Living in MI this is S.O.P.

Pull your coat sleeves over your quality ski gloves and begin from the top---down by carefully sweeping it off in layers, without removing enough snow to touch the paint. You will end up with an inch or so of snow on the horizontal surfaces.

Ensure that the cowl area, signals/lights, glass is clear of snow.

Clean windows enough to see, drive FAST. We have 20 inches easy here. We spent 2.5 hours shoveling and its still coming down. Did I mention my driveway is about 24 feet long? I hate snow.

You neglected to mention direction. South would be good. If you end up with the car surrounded by salt water you went too far.

:sosad We only got around a foot in NE Ohio but a 500 ft driveway in the woods makes it fun. I kind of like the gravel where it is so a plow job is out. Great fun moving that much snow with a snowblower. :nervous: Especially when the driveway is wide enough in spots that you have to move it twice.

Can't beat that nice, clean edge up the driveway for curb appeal though. :bigups What am I talking about??? I live out in the country back in the woods! WHAT curb appeal???

While the southerners are gloating every time it snows I reflect on the challenges faced living in different climates. This happens every year and you know approximately when. You can own a 4x4 and a snowblower and get through the worst of it fine. If you have to deal with hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes or mudslides you have no warning when they'll occur and the results have the potential to be much more catastrophic and life altering. There's no perfect place to live without calamity, IMO. So considering the options the inconvenience of snow may not be so bad.

What's the best way to remove 20" of snow from you car you ask?

Park in a garage? Move South where you don't have to worry about this problem?

Sorry, I can't imagine having to deal with it myself.. You guys up there are getting pelted again this wknd huh?

My first thought was - glad I don't have this problem, then I thought, could you do like they did in Grumpy Old Men, spray water on it then let it all slide off. Hey - worked on the roof!

We got around 18" today. I used a truck washing brush to get the bulk off of my 2 cars, my parents 2 cars and 4 of my neighboors cars. I left about 1" of snow on the cars and started them to get some heat into them to melt the rest.

I use a snobrum to push the snow off. leaving a slight coating that mother nature takes care of for me.

That is exactly how I do it Gonz. Unfortunately I will doing alot of that later today :(

I'll be doing it Wednesday... but ony 4 to 6 inches of snow predicted for my area.

At least Wifey's Edge and my Jeep will be clean for a couple of days! :chuckle:

I just parked my wifes car in the sun and it melted most of that white crap off her car. of course we didn't have 20 inches either.....

Park in a garage or do like I did, drive really fast on a plowed road and let it all fly off....kinda neat to watch it all fly off the car ;)
