Whats REALLY the best scratch cover/remover?

My hobby is photographing Bear and other wild life here in WV and that means driving some bad logging and mining roads and getting some scratches on my Tacoma. What scratch cover or remover do you feel is the best for a silver colored Tacoma with clear coat. It has quite a few scratches on it from briar's and small branches because I'm off road a lot. I know that painting every now and then is the real answer but I can't afford that every few months, :waxing: This truck looks great yet and the scratches are not super bad but I know they exist.

Using my new favorite Duragloss AW you would have to look close to see them because the shine knocks out your eyeballs. Several coats of Duragloss is placed over several coats of Mothers Gold wax /cleaner combo but I think some sort of scratch cover or remover may be better . Thanks for any suggestions you may have. Mike

I love 3M Perfect-It Swirl mark remover (with rotary buffer). I use it with good results on vehicles at work taht have been through the carwash too many times (people that work there). You might also want to try a glaze such as 3M Imperial Hand Glaze... it's good at HIDING them.

MrSelfDestruct, Thank you for the reply and the suggestions. I was beginning to think that I asked something that I should not have, no response at all, Lol.

My local Nappa auto parts carry several of 3-M products. I'll see what they have and what they can order for me. Thanks again, Mike

Why would I buy a polish that I would have to use three times to get the desired affect?

Not defending any particular product but just taking the question at face value: maybe somebody wants to use something especially mild and/or user-friendly.

Mike-in-WV- Not that MrSelfDestruct was talking about using a rotary, and 3M has made a number of Perfect It three lines over the years, so make sure you get something that's gonna work for *you* in your situation and using your methods.

I'd recommend different stuff to different people depending on what paint they have (hard/soft, thick/thin), what application method they'll be employing (hand/PC/Cyclo/rotary), and what their ultimate goal is (marring removal/hiding/both).

Oh, and I like the idea of keeping your truck in reasonable condition despite its hard use. I'd go for products that improve and hide marring if it were mine, I wouldn't even *think* of trying to get it anywhere close to perfect in the sense that many here shoot for.

MrSelfDestruct- If you like 3M's IHG, you might try one of the Meguiar's equivalents some time ;) I'd been using IHG on fresh repaints until I did a side-by-side with Meg's #5, which blew it away in every category, from ease-of-use to looks to the admittedly minimal protection.
