What's more aggressive than #9? (remove swirls by hand)

I've had good (but not great) results using Meguiars #9 swirl remover. I'm curious what's the next notch more aggressive on swirls that can still be used by hand.

I have a bottle of 3M Rubbing Compound that claims it's clear coat safe and will remove 1500 and above sanding patterns. I also have a bottle of Meguiars Fine Cut.

Are these products too aggressive?

What would you suggest as the next step more aggressive than #9?

I believe meguiars Swirl Free Polish and Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner are both more agressive than #9. I use SFP frequently and it works great.

I thought SFP and #9 are the same? Medallion Paint Cleaner will do zilcho for swirls. It's a good contamination and blemish remover.

The next step up from #9 I believe is Speed Glaze. I just bought some and will be using as soon as it arrives on my car. I need something alittle more than #9 but less than DACP. I'll be following with #3 then Blitz.

So, I think Speed Glaze is the next step up. You could ask Meguiars, but beware, their responses (you will need more than one answer) may leave you confused.

I used the MPC and it ate through the blemishes and contamination on a white Civic of mine. However, the little scratches and swirls were NOT removed. I just find it to be an excellent cleaner, but not an effective swirl, minor scratch remover. Maybe I didn't work it long enough. I followed with Mothers Glaze. I'm going to revisit the product when the time is right and will adjust my technique and make a strong effort to examine the swirl removal.

I'll have to try the SFP and see for myself. I could have sworn I heard that #9 and SFP are one in the same.

So to answer davefr's question, SFP may be the next best bet. Another good Autopian contact is 2hotford for Meguiars info.

what about Meguairs Fine, Medium or Heavy Cut Cleaner. Are any of the better then the Swirl Remover?

Those three don't have diminishing abrasives, and have to be followed up by #9 or something equivalent. I have personally used medium and heavy cut cleaners. They both leave visible haze which has to be cleaned up with #9. Medium cut cleaner has about the same cutting ability as DACP when it's first used. The difference is that DACP breaks down to something close to #9 after working, but the medium cut does not. Heavy cut leaves a very serious haze which has to be work out vigorously.

IMO, something like SFP or Medallion would be too close to #9 to be worth your time and effort. I would move up to DACP or 3M Fine Cut. People have used the Meguiar's Fine Cut, but I'd feel more comfortable using the 3M, which actually approves such use. DACP actually does work by hand too.
