What's a good replacement for Zaino?

I've been using Zaino for several years. I'm generally happy with it, but have grown tired of how finnicky it can be - especially on black. Those who use it probably know what I mean. Apply it the wrong thickness or wrong temp or wrong humidity and you are left with subtle but present streaks and hazing which require more work (sometime MUCH more) to remove.

What's a better, HASSLE-FREE alternative? I've heard good things about HD Poxy.

Have you looked into GTechniq C1 or C2?

If you like the looks of Zaino, there aren't really any products that are similar. NXT and Poxy have amped up looks, but not the unique Zaino look. FK1000P has a look of its own that is a bit over the top too, but it can bit a bit finicky. Same is true for BFWD. Have you tried Pinnacle Souveran? That is always great on black.

How would you describe the difference in look between Zaino and say Poxy? I can see subtle differences between a carnuba and a polymere, but like everything else, how Zaino looks to me is pretty dependant on how much effort you've put into preparing the surface.

In bright daylight Zaino does look like most other sealants, but when the sun starts dropping later in the day, it gets amazing depth and gloss. When the sun is going down, the reflections are amazing. Poxy looks very similar to NXT to me, both look like a liquid mercury finish, almost a weird metallic-ness to the shine. Poxy has depth, but its not a glassy type depth of FK1000 or Zaino. Honestly, its all splitting hairs, I'm just an LSP junkie. If you don't care, go with a sealant that is hassle free, why fight with Zaino? Both Poxy and NXT are nealy fool proof.

So what you're saying is that I'm actually getting a slight cosmetic benefit from all the Zaino hassle.

Look into Duragloss products. They are similar to Zaino.

I don't think its a cost issue. I think the OP mentioned he had steaking issues, which he'll likely have with DG.

Optimum Opti-Seal is about as goof proof as it gets. Super easy to apply because that's all you do, apply thinly and it clears out on its own without buffing. Plus it has excellent depth for a sealant and great protection against bird bombs.

Let me cast my vote for Finish Kare 1000p. I like its signature look and I love its durability. Unlike Yakky, I have not found it to be finicky at all. And you can't beat the price. I have no experience with Zaino, so cannot compare the two products, but given the price, I think you ought to give it a try. You'll want to apply two coats, with at least 24+ hours between coats. 1000p takes time to cure properly. It does have a subtle but unique look. It may surprise you.

Like many here - I was hooked on Zaino, and still like some of their stuff. But on some other forums I learned about Duragloss and decided to give it a try.

So going into one winter I had Zaino on my car - and Duragloss on my wife's truck. As you might imagine - winters in Iowa are pretty tough trying to keep vehicles clean. We end up using touchless car washes as one of our primary washing methods. The only problem with this is the nasty chemicals they use as a "pre-soak". That stuff just plays heck on waxes/sealants.

Along about March - I started noticing that the truck was beading and sheeting better, as well as the shine holding up better. I now have several bottles of Zaino that haven't been used in years - and I find Duragloss easier to use and more cost effective.

They are both sealants - in fact some folks on detailing boards swear they are made by the same people.

I'm still a big fan of Blackfire Wet-Diamond. Doesn't get much easier than that and the looks and slick feel are great.

I wish I lived closer to you. I'd love to take those bottles off your hands. My all time favorite sealant.

I totally agree - goes on easy and off easy too. I just tried FK1000P on my car and it was not hard to apply and take off ...so far so good.

Other than sometimes needing longer between coats, the above post is exactly what I would've posted.
