What's a cool, comfortable '06 car for a single heart broken guy? :)

I need a car that has the following qualities:

- Comfortable

- Reliable

- Good Looking

- Less then $30k

I'm 27 and travel a lot. I'm going through a mid-life crisis. Looking to start fresh in 2006 :) In Texas I can only get deals on Honda, Toyota, Chevrolet, Dodge and Hyundai. What do the fine guys at autopia recommend out of those?

I'd like to get a BMW 325i sedan but no access to BMW dealerships yet.

Thanks in advance.

I love nanners :getdown

nissan's not on your list...when my girl and I spilt my 350Z was a great pick me up...still have the car..and have my girl back...

A non-M BMW? Camery? Civic? Come on, you said mid-life crisis didn't you?

The ultimate mid-life crisis car = Corvette. For $30k, you could get a nice C5 'Vette, which is just what you need to feel young again. Wouldn't be very bad for trips either, so long as you're going alone. Who needs a back seat if it's just you? The LS1 V8 is a reliable engine, parts are cheap (a lot cheaper than a BMW!), and gas mileage isn't that bad, especially on the highway (they have so much low-end torque that they can be geared super-low for freeway cruising, and get around 30 mpg).

That's the obvious choice to me. :)

Would hope that you would consider a Chrylser 300 C. A very unique vehicle. Style, class, ride and power.

Hmmm....

I'd pick a Dodge Charger R/T, Honda Accord Coupe 6MT, or a new V8 Impala.

All are very comfortable, look good, and are also fun to drive!:D:D

Age 27 HARDLY qualifies you for a mid-life crisis... you've got a LONG way to go! :grinno:

Regardless, for less than $30k, you could pick up a used BMW Z4, a used '03/'04 supercharged Mustang Cobra coupe/convertible, a used Honda S2000, etc. "Dependability" is a relative term once you get into the elevated performance field. If you're bent on going new... I second the Civic Si vote.

My vote goes to a:

-Nissan 350Z

-Subaru WRX

The 350Z has a bit more fun/glam factor but the WRX is great in any terrain and absolutely rips off the line.

amen, i dont see how i could get through a midlife crisis with a honda or toyota. :scared: get the vette. :woohoo:

What about a Chrysler Crossfire? The coupe (non convertable) has an MSRP of $29k. Does Chevy include all GM products or just the Chevy dealer?

I suggest a personal trainer at a Gym, get yourself in shape.

There is no better feeling on earth than a good workout.

Then with your new vigor and body, you will have lots of lady friends :)

Not much excitement with Toyota, unless you wait for the new Rav4 or buy a Tacoma. Honda, I would say Civic SI or Accord V6. Don't know much about Hyundai, but I have been hearing good things.

The one economical yet exciting car not mentioned is a Mazda 3S. I looked at one with the Grand Touring Package, and it had HIDs, Heated leather, climate control, Bose, rain sensing wipers, etc. All for $22,000!!!

While my advice for a mid-life crisis (at any age ;) ) would be along the lines of JBM's, or maybe something like a driving school, or best of all some philosophical introspection... if you want to try to do it via a car I'd sure pick something more exciting than a Japanese sensible-mobile!

I'm with Homicidal Sloth on this one. At 27, I'd get something scary-fast that'll either kill you (if you botch up behind the wheel) or make you feel like you're still young and immortal (if you drive it right). Something along the lines of a M-series Bimmer or something with a big V8 or a rowdy turbo/blower.

If you live long enough to have another mid-life crisis, the next time you'll be older and slower and hopefully more sensible, so get something crazy now while you're young enough to enjoy it :D FWIW, I'm glad I did it that way ;) When you're *really* at the half-way point you might want that Caddy that truzoom posted. Better that than when the middle-age guys buy 'vettes/exotics/whatever and then drive them around as slowly as, well, middle-age guys

I can talk about middle-age guys; I'm 45 :D

I'd get a used Lexus GS300 or GS 430... the ultimate in reliability, comfort and with the 430, a touch of downright nasty speed!

... oh wait.. I did do that!! :D

For my midlife crisis I got a GS400 with low miles, had it repainted, put in a kickin' sound system and a couple of other mods and still only have about $23K in the car. I couldn't be happier. Lexus luxury and reliability with V8 power (I knew this car was fast but its low-end torque has been a very pleasant surprise). This beast is very comfortable and very fast!
