New black paint job coming home, I'd like to get my product now for use during the curing time... I like the sound of each of the follwing: IHG, #7, #80, and #81...

What is your preffered, favorite, best, etc? BTW, new paint is black and I will be applying by hand. :)

Are you using all of those? Or are you asking about each single product?

IHG and #7 are about the same but i hear #7 is easyier out of the two to work with

#80 speed glaze does wonders and leaves a deep colored finish to your car ( especially on black )

#81 i havent had experience with this product but i hear it leaves a great finish like #80 also but doesnt remove defects as well as #80 I think..

I would use #81 over #7. Its much easier to use and removes alot better. #7 is geared more towards single stage paints.

#7 and #81 IMO are so much easier to work with than IHG.

No, no... not using all of those - just trying to pick one to use for my paint's 30-60 day cure time. At first I was told IHG was what to use but I also learned Meg's has several different products safe for fresh new paint... I just would like recommendations on which one product in that list I should use.

#80 Speed Glaze is great but I'd prefer to use #81 since it is a non-abrasive pure polish that doesn't dry white. #80 does make some slight white dust and if you don't remove all of it in the cracks and crevices, it leave a white residue that is hard to remove. Those two would be on my short list.

After reading a BUNCH of threads, I've narrowed it down...

#81 or IHG... which is better for brand new black paint until cure time is complete?

Thanks!

I have read IHG is good to use for that.

BUT, ask the shop that painted the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They may not want you to do anything for 30, 60 or 90 days.

If it's a brand new car, factory painted, then use whatever you want :up

I used to use IHG but never on brand new repaint. I just let it sit until the cure time was up

Even despite the claims such as " designed for newly painted vehicles or “fresh paint (less than 30 days old). " ?

I thought it might be better to have a little something rather than nothing...

IHG offers no protection, just pure gloss, I know you must be itching to put some protection on it, but best to wait to ensure the new paint dries and cures correctly.

T. Perrine- Use either the #81 or the IHG, it's gonna be a personal preference issue anyhow. *I* happen to prefer IGH, but it just works for me, others find it tricky :nixweiss

These products *do* offer *some* protection. Not much, and they do wash off each time, but it's still a lot better than nothing.

Yes you can/should use them on fresh (as in "just done") paint. The paintshop might've already used such a product before you pick the car up. No problems with doing this....really, you can take this to the bank ;) (I've had what, gee, I dunno, literally *dozens* of cars painted).
