What would you do with paint like this?

A day or two? It is most likely a mix of rain that fell and dropped from tree- not water sprinklers- that water here is worse!

I'm going to start with 4" pads on my Makita- advice from Innovative of Orange County.

Thanks!

Yikes - Might be time to learn about machine sanding.

Lots of testing is going to be required. Take a couple sections of hood and experiment...

I would start with paper, 4 or 6k grit, then compound ( or intermediate polish if paint is soft) and polish of choice. For serious defect removal I feel like paper gives me more control of material removal vs. using a rotary.

As far as using your rotary goes, use what ever pad size you are most comfortable with as pad size does not have the same effect on cutting ability as it does when using a DA machine.

doesn't appear to be super bad. it should turn out nice with no sanding i'm sure. Just compound the heck out of it then go at it with some polishes LoL.

Been there, done that Rob....

At least hrs later, in a hot August SoCal garage. I hate Summer. I remember that day very vividly.

do one teste section...OHC on wool on rotary. if that doesnt work ,then time to bring out the paper and practice! maybe 2500-4000, then OC/wool, OC/foam, OP/foam, opti-bond....thats what I would do anyway, if I only had OPT products

i would do air sander, 1500, maybe 2000 grit. you'll waste a lot of time and wont get those nasty little pits out with a pad. i did a bmw with paint that sat out for 2 1/2 years. only thing that fixed it was sanding and the machine

even though it looks bad, start small. I wouldn't jump in to >>current super compound<< with a wool pad. Work your way up, it's safer. Try something medium, in terms of cut, and if that isn't doing it, try stepping things up.
