What would be a good truck for around $2000?

I think I am selling my 90 Civic hatchback and I will probably be looking for a truck. I am thinking Toyota or Nissan but have never owned either of them. Anyone have comments or suggestions?
 
I have had a few Toyota trucks (I have a new Tacoma now) and they have alwyas been dependable for me. Good luck in finding one!! I bet you'll miss your Civic!!
 
I will probably miss the Civic but having two small cars is not ideal for a homeowner. I have to borrow a truck all the time whenever I need something and I hate it. :D
 
Oh no...that did not pan out. He backed out then wanted to trade then I backed out.
 
It's a bit of a trip for a truck and a little more than you want to pay, but my neighbor has a 92 toyota ext cab for sale. Only has 80,000 or 90,000 miles on it. Real cream puff bodies in great shape V-6 with a 5 speed and new clutch. I think he's asking around 5500 for it. Blue book says its worth about 6400. Shoot me a PM only if your serious. I'm sure you can find something local being in motor city but just thought I'd shoot a line about it.

i think my dad bought his truck used from some company for a couple grand. its a really old f-150, horrible paint, no radio, no AC, but it runs fine. i mean, the engine is really big too. when my dad gasses it, you can really hear the thing roar.
