what type of foam pad for SSR2.5?

Need to use some SSR2.5 to remove some scratches on my black car. What's the best type of pad to use with the PC?

I would start with a polishing pad and if that doesn't take out the scratches then step up to a cutting pad. If you use the cutting pad you will probably need to follow up with a polishing pad and SSR 2 or SSR 1 to remove any micro marring that you might get from the cutting pad.

I would rather use 2.5 twice with a polishing pad to remove marring than use it with a cutting pad and induce haze.
 
SSR2.5 and pads

As everyone has explained, you should ALWAYS go with a less aggressive approach, then if the results still warrent, switch to a cut pad and re-apply.

You could go straight to wax as SSR2.5 leaves a very nice gloss, or if you're anal as I am, step down in polishes with caution so not to add more marring or spiderwebs to obtain that mirror like finish prior to whatever you will use to protect the finish.

May I recommend Poorboy's EX-P and if you want additional depth, add right on top of the EX-P, Natty's Paste Wax for that very deep, wet look.

You can see just what EX-P looks like with just one coat if you look at the Poorboy's website and scroll to the bottom to see my SC430. That's ONE coat of EX-P and only after waiting 15 minutes. I've had very good results using SSR2.5 on an Edge Durafoam DA Light Cut (green) pad. It's aggressive enough to tackle problem areas, but doesn't seem to create any marring of its own.
 
wow, am i making a mistake by using the yellow pad? maybe i should switch over to the green pad for ssr 2.5......

The correct pad texture depends on the condition of the vehicle. There are cases where a cutting pad would be the right choice. As you get more practice with different cars, you will develop a better sense for the "right" pad texture.
 
I used a yellow edge durofoam pad with 2.5 and achieved stunning results with zero marring. In fact I went from it straight to VM and EX. I cannot say enough as far a how impressed I am with the results.
 
I am ordering some of these edge pads and was wondering whether or not I really need the "fine finishing pad" (white) if I am getting the regular finishing pad (blue).

I have ssr2.5, ssr1, pp, upp, and natty's

i shouldn't need anything more than the light cut, polishing, and finishing should I?

The Edge blue pad is more of a polishing type of texture. So, I would recommend getting the white ultrafine finishing pad for use with UPP. SSR1 and PP would match well with the blue pad. SSR2.5 can go with the yellow, green, or blue pads depending upon the desired amount of cut. Apply Natty's by hand.
 
would it be better to get an extra blue polishing pad (one for ssr1 and one for pp) or a yellow pad, which i dont have?
