What to use on door window trim?

Have a 2005 Civic, and the coating on the metal window trim is faded.
Originally it had what seemed to be a thin, rubber-type coating.
The car is kept outside, which contributed to the fading and spotting of the original pieces.
I`ve tried everything else, polishes, waxes, even Meguiar`s Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer, to no avail.
Somewhere I`ve seen where a detailer sprayed these trim pieces with Plasti-dip.
I plan to remove these trim pieces before spraying them, but what is best to use for longevity?

Ignore the roof trim piece in the pic below.

I`d use Rust-Oleum satin black enamel. It`s not car paint durable but as good as you will get in a can. If you regularly wax it, you should get at least 5 years.
