What to use for cleaning the "aluminum" trim in a E46 BMW?

Do you mean the “titanium trim on the dash rather then the wood? If so, its just painted and clearcoated plastic. You can use the P21S cleansing lotion and wax that you already have.

yes only I have the "aluminum" not titanium - same concept I guess.

You mean clean it like I do the outside of my car???

Hehe, aluminum, titanium... same thing. Yes, just treat it like you would do on your paint. They are both clearcoated... the "trim" is a bit softer. Try to be very careful not to scratch it.

You can skip the wash; use a damp microfiber towel instead to "wash" it. But, yes, you can use polish and wax on the trim.

What do you mean by be careful? I was going to use the same P21S polish and wax I use on the outside.... Is that a go or a no? :nixweiss:

thanks for the info!!!!

except in the higher end cars (m, 7 series, etc.) i THINK. you might want to ask over at bimmerfest.com's forums. they have a detailing board, and while not as thorough and rigorous as this board, def can answer any BMW related question

the wood and titanium scratch way too easy. Use a quality wax. i don't like to use carnuba because it tends to smudge (oils) and show fingerprints. i use Zaino Z2 on my wood trim and clean it with Z6 spray detailer. comes out great!

Dry using a quality damp MF towel to clean it... and please try using the search function! A lot of the questions you have already asked have been discussed many times...
