What to use for cleaning carpet?

I was wondering what to use to clean carpet and apolstrey. I have the simple green cleaner and lately i have used just regular resolve and worked good but is getting pretty expensive. I was also wondering if i could buy this stuff at a local store instead of getting it off the internet.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you saying that you are buying Resolve on the net? Resolve is available at stores (grocery/department/hardware) if it's the stuff I'm thinking of.

As to alternatives, you could buy (on the net) Sonus All-in-1 cleaner. It's a concentrate and works pretty well on food/drink type spills. As it's concentrated, it's fairly cost effective. You could also use it as a pre-spray. Poorboy's APC works well as a pre-spray too (also concentrated). If you search the forum, you'll see many people are happy with an Oxi-Clean or Woolite mix (Both available at local stores)

Hope this helped.

I use a upholstery brush and a Bissel Spot Cleaner. Weird but it works. I clean up with a wet/dry rigid vac. I spray with the proper mix of oxy clean (to much will leave white spots) but works awesome on earth stains. Woolite is great also especailly for headliners

Scottwax has always suggested Woolite (yes for clothes) mixed 1 part woolite with 6 parts water. Its cheap. just stick it in a spray bottle. I will be trying it this weekend on my first paying detail.

In certain situations, don't under estimate the power of plain warm water in a spray bottle. Just lightly spray the affected area, scrub with a nylon brush and vacuum. In many cases it's very effective, never leaves any soapy residue and you can't beat the price. Of course, more soiled areas will require more aggressive cleaning methods.
