what to do with this compound?

i have a bottle of 3m's rubbing compound fine cut. i used it before on my car and i didnt really see any results.



what should i use this for? swirl marks?
 
How did you use it before? It is meant to be worked in like a polish. Did you use it by hand or PC? (I haven't found the need to compound a finish yet with my Makita.)



3M PI II FC RC was designed for cutting the finish, in return you get swirl marks and minor oxidation away (pretty much removing a little bit of the top layer of paint, same goes with all polishes but more so with a RC.)
 
Yeah what Jason said. If you didn't see any results from using it, I would guess that either your paint problem (whatever they were) was too serious for even that, or that you weren't using it effectively.
 
i was using it by hand, i probably wasnt using it right since it was my pre-autopia days. would it be a good idea to use on a oribital? davidb said not to use rubbing compunds by machine so i guess not right?



also is it better than megauirs #9 swirl remover?
