What is a good cleaner/polish for my headlight and taillights? What does everybody do to clean them? I think I remember someone mentioning some product for this but Im not sure...

Thanks

For my plastic headlight lenses I have used VM and 1Z Metallic Polish using a white pad. Keeps them looking nice. For heavily ozidated lenses I have used Blue Coral metal polish by hand to clear them up.

I used Clearkote metal polish and a PC (CMA white pad) speed 3.0 on this 87 Mustang:

I use Plexus on the polycarbonate lenses on my Jetta and as the others note, just wax over the the taillight lenses with whatever product you are using.

If you are trying to correct major sandblasting and yellowing, that is a whole different scene.

hth.

You need to put 3M Stongard/Lamin-X on your car...

www.umnitza.com is the best place I've found to get it.

And here's THE best polish for plastic headlights, hands-down:

Flitz Metal Polish. $20 for a large tube at most paint shops. Throw it on with a CMA white or yellow pad and you'll wonder how you bothered using 3M Rubbing Compound on headlights for the past year. Ask me how I know.

Remember to blue tape the surrounding area, you don't want Flitz to hit your paint. Luckily I don't have to say "ask me how I know" for this one ;).

on the plastic instrument cluster...it's one of the better products I have found for cleaning that easily scratched surface.
