What to do with flyers now that they are made

Im almost done with my flyers, just have to iron out some minor details.

What should I do with them? I was thinking about going door to door and putting them in peoples door-handles or taping them on their doors, or something along those lines. But do people actually read those things, or do they just get annoyed with them and throw them away.

I also thought about going to busy parking lots and just picking out decent looking cars that look like their owners would invest in a detail , or cars with major problems like faded trim, oxidation, swirls, minor scratches, etc. and jsut putting them under the windshield wipers.

What else could i do?

I like your second idea better . Parking lots and malls . Put a flyer on Suv's , nobody like washing those ..There is also direct mail. Look in the phone book under mail or advertising . You can have your flyer mailed directly to a specific neighborhood or zip code..It might get alittle expensive though. i lucked out and have a friends in TV and we are trading services at his $2.50 to my 1.00 for a commercial and airtime..

Drop of flyers at businesses also . Real estate agents love a clean car...good luck and much success to you ..aloha

Drtahoe.
Check with limo services... your prices may go out the window on doing some thing that long.
but did you ever see a dirty limo, and they arer cleaned year round
Just a thought

No offense but I think taping flyers to doors or putting them under windshield wipers is not only unprofessional but annoying. I think direct mail is probably the best way to go. I also think that big full page flyers are more likely to get thrown away than something the size of a postcard or so. People just dont like to have extra stuff laying aroung the house especially flyer sized things, but they may put something a little bit smaller away where they can still see it instead of just throwing it away. Just my $.02.

I don't like having flyers put under the wiper but I do look at them and if it's a clear, simple and eye-catching flyer I might even bite. The real estate people idea is an excellent tip. Who else might have to drive clients/customers around.....or have delivery vehicles that need to look good? Florists? Drug stores? Others?????

just another thought, funeral homes need clean cars and hearses all the time, they want them clean rain or shine and usually have a garage to work in ,only problem is working around the use of the cars, they mostly want them done at night but can be a good steady client, and the cars are never as dirty as a mommy van full of kids, a few flower petals are all u usually have to deal with

Heres one I had suggested to a fellow detailer with great success. Free T-shirts for everyone of his clients with all his info, ie contact #, website address and lists of services. I had suggested he put a dirty hotrod with 'before' underneath it on the back of the shirt and a clean hotrod with 'after' on the front. His customers like the shirts so much, he is now selling them for a profit and on top that he is getting alot of calls generated buy those popular shirts. Flyers are cheap, but most people ignore them.

I never had much luck with placing flyers in mailboxes or doors, and I would never put one on someones car. I've had that happen to me before and I was not only angry but insulted.

I have had some success using flyers posted in public places on bulletin boards.

Best advertising....word of mouth. It just takes awhile for word to get around. Hang in there...it'll happen.

Good luck!

Limos and funeral homes are not that great of source for business. The reason is that most have someone on staff that does the work. I called a bunch of both and found this about them.
As for the flyers, one of the best sources getting them noticed is business parks. Go to the larger companies in the area and talk to the person at the front desk. I use to work in a company that a mobile service would come in once a month and work on cars all day there. You can ask the front desk to help disturb to the company that can add creditability.

Now that Beemer mentioned that, the company I 'work' for is located downtown. There is a mobile detailer who set up with our HR dept to detail employee cars. I think he does it for a few bucks less. They run it in our weekly newsletter. I see him doing a lot of cars, so maybe it helps him out some. Maybe you could try this. In any case, good luck.

Ask anyone who has done the flyer thing and they will tell you to expect about a 1% return on the effort. It simply isn't worth it. Something that I have done that is interesting, is to print my business card on a magnet and I slap it on the gas pump when I fill up. :lol You can get printer 'paper' that is designed for business card sized magnets. Its not that expensive and you are placing them in a spot where you pretty much have the audience's full attention for 3 or 4 minutes. They are able to consider your card and also consider the condition of their car. I have had several calls on the dozen of these that I have slapped around town. Actual return on my effort has been in the 50 or 60 percent range so far. Placing the flyer on something other than a car is more effective than putting it on their car. I disregard everything placed under my wipers just on principle. I don't care if it is an advertisement for the cure for cancer. I toss that puppy.

nice response, that is exactly what i was tihnking. I would never consider anything that someone put under my windshield wiper, but i thought that was just me.

so how does this direct mail thing work? I was thinking about just finding a few neighborhoods and putting the flyers in envelopes and mailing myself, but that would take A LOT of time. Are there actually ways to get something sent to an entire area code?

There are companies that do that kind of thing for you. THIS LINK MIGHT HELP. Its not the cheapest way to advertise, but it is legal and professional looking. Whatever you do, don't let anyone distribute fliers for you. I know some people who got in a lot of trouble because they hired some neighborhood kids to put fliers out and they were putting them in mail boxes. He had the Post Office calling him telling him that if he didn't stop doing that, then they were going to call the police. Its against the law to use a mail box for anything other than stamped mail.

Did you really do that :wow Thats a Good Idea :wha you dont have pic of that card do you

I just print the cards on my home computer. I lost the card with prices on it when I had to reformat my computer so I've just been using one without prices on it. I direct them to OCDetails.com and have them email me or call me if they are interested. This is the one I have printed right now.

Yup. That's the one I print on the magnet. I like to leave business cards lying around too. Everytime I go somewhere I drop a few cards here and there. I get my cards printed at vistaprint.com, so they aren't that expensive. I get quite a few calls from people who find them. I have slowed down how many I leave around since I have gotten so busy. One thing I have learned is to never advertise unless you are prepared for the volume.

Very good ideas , I like the obsessive compulsive detailer part on your card.

alot of people advertise in our local buy-n-sell "mini papers " . They have adds for mufflers , stereo and alarms , detailers and the ever popular " dating services" lol...:) :)

I just thought of something ...What about those renter guides you have on the mainland...You just moved and need a detail? who knows..

Where do you get these magnets, Office Depot or something? Do you stick the business card to the magnet - not quite sure how those work but I like the idea.
