A recent customer approached me and told me he is interested in buying a car wash. He saw my detailing skills and new I had a good business sense, so he proposed a deal. It is a hand car wash with a detail center and it is in a very good location. He is abusy business man and really cant be there since he owns other business places like tanning salons and postal places, so i would be running the show. Like 5-6 days a week, schedules, telling everyone what to do ,the whole works from open till close. He asked me to figure a salary plus 10 percent of the whole business profit. What do you guys think is acceptable if I decide to do this? I will also have my detailing units there as well so full details can be done, but money will be for the car wash. I was thinking about 50k plus the 10 percent, what you guys think?

Im really hesitating of doing it though becuase i would then be working for someone else and not myself, so i dont think im going to accept even though i dont make that much now, i think i can control a desitny that is untouchable of anyone's pay rate for myself.

For that much work, *I* would be wanting more in the $60k + range and then add the 10%, but that's just me.

It's going to be more work and headache than you may realize, but it could turn out profitable for you.

Well, think about how much that freedom is worth to you, and add it on to what you make now. The 10 points could be a big issue too, think that if the place turns 250,000 in profit, thats a 50% bonus. And I don't think thats an impossibility.

If it were me, I'd work it for a few years, just to build up a nest egg, contacts, reputation to go out on my own bigtime with. But then again, I'm young, and I don't know if you have the time left that I do, to play around with things.

Does this guy know the carwash and detailing business or is he relying on your knowledge and experience. Check the place out and see what kind of numbers they do now .

he is relying on me for everything, he has no clue about detailing, carwash or anything with the auto apperance.

Then I think you would have more control over technique, products, etc. And if your not doing the physical work, you can't beat it:xyxthumbs
