What to do about dusting when polishing?

I read here about the processes that everyone uses when detailing but there's one thing that I just can't get down and it's frustrating the heck out of me.

Does everyone hose down the car after polishing to get the dust that you've just generated off of the vehicle. I've used menzerna products, #83, and Poorboys polishes and I usually get the best results and least dusting with the poorboys products BUT there's still enough dust when I'm through that I feel as though I need to rince the car down as wiping with a MF never gets the dust out of all of the cracks and crevices.

So...does everyone just do this and it's never mentioned OR what am I doing wrong to generate soo much dust that I feel that it's necessary to rince the car again after polishing?

Andy: I'm with you, I always wash my vehicle after polishing; the 50/50 wipedown just doesn't do it for me. I know someone is going to say , well you may be using too much product but I've tried using very little polish and I still find myself washing after polishing.

Just my experience...

I thought about too much product as well or a loaded pad or something BUT I've done 4 cars now with SSR2.5 and only used about half of the bottle. On the last couple of cars I've been overly cautious about cleaning the pad several times during the detail which has kept dusting down but It still gets in the wiper cowl, ect and I feel like it's easier to wash/rince than spend forever dusting the car off.

When i get dusting with menzerna i just re-apply some more polish to the panel or mist the pad with some more water. Usually it means that the polish is drying up on the pad.

I mist the panel with #34 and wipe off with a soft MF. IMO washing is too big a deal, waterspots, chance of marring the unprotected finish, etc. But then I don't use the SSR stuff so maybe I don't have the same problems (PI-II FCRC dusts a lot, though).

on the wiper cowl, i lay down some extra towels i have laying around, so dust doesn't get traped downt here... and i don't worry much about the windows because i always do the exterior windows after i seal or wax (which obviously comes after the polishing dust has gotten on them). i also finish the tires and other black trim after polishing, so the dust gets taken care of them as well. any other spots i am worried about, i usually tape off or block off with spare towels. i hope that helps a little. i have went ahead and just ran some water over some of my details because of excess polishing dust build up. i think it depends on if you can or can not get the excess dust off the car. if its not possible to get off by wiping or blocking off, then go ahead and do a proper wash. if the car is freshly sealed or waxed, you won't need hardly any soap at all, sometimes just a rinse is enough for me. well good luck.

I take out the hose and WITH NO NOSSLE let the water run over the car Thatwill take care of all the dust, then I wipe the car clean witha WW.Its take a additional 20 minutes but I have piece of mind
