What tint do you recommend

Here's a pic of my '99 E430 Benz, what tint level would you recommend to match the jet black car paint. Also what's the price range for a good Llumar tint job? Thanks for your input.

You'll have to see what is legal in your area and how much cops really care about it.

I'd personally go atleast 35% all around. Maybe darker on the back windows.

I see a lot of people looking at this post, but only 1 reply so far. Make me feel part of the Autopia family guys. Give some love.

Mine is 35% for the two front windows, the back half is 20%. My son has 5% Limo tint. Much too hard to see out at night. Dangerous in my opinion.

I paid $170 at Mid-America Window Tint in Lees Summit, MO.

Personally, I like Madico brand of window tint. I have 35% on one car, and 20% on the other...my preference is for the 20%.

Ask around and visit some tinting places...don't just go to one that gives the cheapest prices. Look for a warranty on their work as well. I paid $140 to have the driver/passenger windows, small rear windows, and my rear hatch done on my Supra.

it all depends on what u want from ur tint job. do u want privacy? or do u want it just to make it look nice? if u plan on having sex in the car get 15 or limo tints. if u want it to look nice with sum sun protection go for 20%, its what i got. sumtimes while getting head i wish i gotten limo tints.

We in manila use tint a lot, probably 90% of all cars have tint except for those who doesn't want them for VANITY reasons for the most part.

I would suggest 3M, Llumar, VCool and SunGuard for brands, they all have 5 year warranties against fading and bubbling if installed correctly, Gila sucks, don't bother...

granted, a car really looks cleaner without tinting, but if you want the UV protection without the shade, there are clear tints available, probably a little darker than clear, but provides 90+% UV protection...

I'd go with a light smoke tint as opposed to a dark black... it's really tough to drive in the rain at night with dark tints.

mine's light smoke in the front and rear, dark smoke at the sides...

I used to be a tinter.

Id personally use Llumar.

Use the F1 Plus tint. Lifetime warranty and blocks out all would want to.

Of course get the one thats legal in your state, but a good tinter wont stock tint that isnt legal.

This is the one i reconmend for the Australian sun (not that sun is different elsewhere).

Protiects the interior from :angry (burning up)

theveed - have you tinted the front winscreen?

when I got my car, it had all limo tinted. but since I couldn't pass the state inspection, I needed to remove the front tinting myself (NJ).

I have no idea how long my tint is on but I kinda feel it's getting ugly purple. Is it sign of aging?

How hard to tint myself or I should go for professional to do the job.

Definitely, when your tint looks like an eggplant, peel it off coz it won't reject heat nor UV, it also makes the tint a lot harder to remove as it ages.

Removing tint isn't that hard, just need heat and ammonia... but installing tint can be tricky for large curved glass... Side windows are easy enough, but rear glass or long glass can be tough to contour.

i have used 3M's NEW tint and its great. also have Llumar and its good as well..

both have lifetime warranties against everything except abuse and ammonia (sp?) based cleaners.

wouldnt pay over 160.00:xyxthumbs

wow, that's expensive in the US!! hehe... I guess most of it goes to labor, huh... typical rates for tint jobs here (full glass) is between 50-70 bucks... if you use cheapo Gila, it'll drop to $20 labor and materials... hehe
