What Speed...?

Garry Dean Quality!
Do you run your Megs Microfiber Cutting discs at on the da?

I just completed a full cut and buff on an 08 Vette and totally ruined 4 5" mf cutting discs with my PCXP on speed 5.

Trashing $40 worth of pads really lowers the bottom line...

Speed 4.5 is the highest I use. Watch the level of heat on the pads. When you are cleaning the pads with compressed air, pull back half of the pad and cool of the BP and rear of the pad. Keeping the MF pads clean helps them last longer.

So did your pads separate fromm the edges or did the adhesive come loose in the center of the pad first?

All 4 delaminated in the center.

I had 1 go bad - right in the center too, melted into to backing plate ruining it also. I just did a 10 year Tahoe, paint was DEAD and after removing the scratches/swirls/oxidation - I discovered........wait for it.........water etching! Yep, deep too. I just quit, told the owner about it and pointed out 2 things, 1. you only see it in the right light/angle and 2. buffing or wet sanding 10 year old paint further would be more costly and would thin it to the 9nth degree. She agreed and said the paint looked fine to her (kinda figured that). I used a PCXP, MF pads, M105, D300 and UnoV3,all speed 6. But, I didn't bear down on it except in desparate sections and then only for 20-30 seconds at a time. Most of the time it was 10 pounds of pressure, by my calibrated forearm. I cleaned after each pass with compressed air and made sure the pads were not getting too hot.

On the GG da speed 4 pcxp - sped 6. You must really push down hard on them. Another trick is to use 1 pad per panel. Switch to another for the next panel, then switch back to the first one.

OR YOU CAN START USING OPTIMUM'S MF PADS. NO MORE FAILING PADS!! :)
