Hello all.

I have a 1995 Porsche 993. Its speed yellow and not a clear coated car. I want to remove minor swirls and surface imperfections.

I have a dewalt variable speed motor. What is the best pad to use? What polish is popular? Also what RPM is suggested?

I notice people refer to different color pads. What colors indicate what type of pad it is?

Thanks for being patient with a detailing newbie :nixweiss

Is the dewalt a rotary or dual action?

As for pads, CMA pads go yellow (cutting), white (polishing) and grey (finishing). As for Meguiars, it's different and I don't know what colors they go by. ;)

But a cutting pad is a cutting pad, and a polishing pad is a polishing pad, regardless who makes them.

Seems like 3M Swirl Mark Remover is your best bet, although I don't know if it's for use on cars without a clear coat.

Good luck, I'm sure some of the other natives will be able to help you out more than I have.

adg44, the Dewalt is a rotary motor. Speed is adjustable from 1k RPM to I think 4K RPM. In the past I have used 1200 RPM.

Any idea of polish I should use? Where to get these products?

Thanks for the help.
