I currently have a porter cable and an old rotary. I am going to buy Lake Country backing plate and pads for the porter cable and soon to buy a Makita also and looking for what size backing plate and size pads for that also ?

1) What size backing plate and pads ( Lake Country ) for Porter Cable ?

2) What size backing plate and pads ( Lake Country ) for Makita 9227c ?

Thanks for your all help in advance .

5" backing plate and 5.5" flat pads are what most will recommend for the PC for paint correction. 6.5" pads are fine for light polishing and waxing/sealing/glazing, but 5.5" pads will spin faster (less weight/friction = faster rotation), thus correcting more efficiently.

If you're not experienced with the Makita yet, I'd start out with those 5.5" pads. A smaller pad on a rotary will generate less heat and be easier to control. As you move on (or if you're already experienced), it'll be good to have an assortment of different sizes - anything from 4" to 7.5 or 8.5".
