Ok, i have been detailing for a few years and have used a host of products and many of you may have seen my posts. I like to think i have a good knowledge of product and application and what not but lately its just becoming over friggen whelming. There are just too many products, not enough indepth reviews and alot of these do not outweigh the next, it all boils down to comfort and what one wishes to do based on the paint, which brings me to my question.

I promised a friend i would detail his 2002 electron blue z06. The car is cleaned regulary but he doesn't have application, nor procedure down pat. He uses crappy towels, the same dirty washmit and poor products *(imho). I believe right now he is using IBIZ. He doesn't do any claying, nor polishing.

Anyway i haven't been able to personally evaluated the paint finish but i figure its got to have some swirls and fine scratches. In my arsenal i have the menzerna twins as a polish. I am hesitant now to use menzerna on cars because of its abrasiveness unless absolutely needed. However since this car has never seen any real good maintence i am thinking it would be the right decision.

1) Should i do menzerna ip/fp than seal or should there be another step after FP such as 81?

2) What about a paint cleaner such was Medallion, or is that pointless since i would be using IP?

I know its best to use the least abrasive product first and in my arsenal that would be #9.

3) If anyone recommends using 9 instead of menzerna on this would i need a paint cleaner such as medallion before 9? So the process would be medallion/9/81 seal(yes/no?)

As far as sealing i currently have KAIO and NXT. I don't know which i will be using, most likely the NXT although i did want to get ahold of some S100. I am trying to build a verstile arsenal so i don't have to friggen run out each car i do to get different things.

Thanks for reading guys.

If it were me, I would use IP (as needed) and FP, then AIO and S100. IMO, that would look pretty amazing on that color (deep and reflective).

You might offer him a good wash mitt and waffle weave for $20 or something like that, or just include it in the price of the detail.

Thanks as always Zane. I will probably just do that, i don't think menzerna will hurt it too much. I'll just have to remember i used it on the car incase i ever detail it again. I actually have to do his vette, his father's 2004 dodge ram and his mother's lexus lol.

I have used IP on a fairly new Vette with bad swirls, without any problems. Just try to get him to be more aware of what he's doing to the finish so you don't have to worry so much about deep polishing next time.
