What pads for GG3?

I`ve been trying to research pads and backing plates for a GG3, and I can`t seem to get a straight answer as to what pads/plates work with that machine. Obviously Griot`s makes 3" pads that fit their own machine... but are there other pad manufacturers that make pads that will work with a GG3? Can a 3.5" or 4" pad be used, or would that yield poor results?

My GG6 has loads of options for backing plates and pads (I use a 5" backing plate and 5.5" B&S flat pads), but the GG3 doesn`t seem to have the same level of options. Any advice you could give would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! :thanks

The only pad I would use on a GG3 is a note pad.
Write a good description for Ebay or CL and get rid of that thing.
Just put a 3 or 4 inch pad on your GG6.

Thanks to both for your advice! I don`t actually own a GG3, but I am considering buying one for smaller areas. I do have a couple of follow-up questions:

Isn`t a GG6 with a 3" backing plate a whole lot of power in a small area?!? Is a 7-amp machine okay to use with such a small pad?

And if I were to use a GG6 with a 3" backing plate, I still have the issue of what pads to use with it. If I were to go the GG6 route with a 3" plate, what size/type pads are appropriate with that application? What`s the size range of pads that could be used with a GG6/3" plate combo?

Thanks again!

the backing plate that comes with the gg3 is 3". I use the griots red 4" wax pad on the gg3. the Velcro on the back of the pad is 3" but the pad flares out to 4".

the gg3 is fairly underpowered to do any real correction work. you can go with any 3" pad if you choose to use the machine to attempt any correction though.

I use my gg3 for waxing. wet sanding and machine claying

I have my GG6 set up with 3" pads, I used megs cutting MF with D300 with it and it still requires a couple approaches to remove defects most times.

My GG 3 *electric* isn`t worth using. My GG 3" pneumatic *is* worth using.

I use Meguiar`s MF Cutting Disks and foam pads from Griot`s.

And I also use 3" pads on my GG6 with no problems at all.

Sounds like smaller backing plates and pads for my GG6 is the way to go. I currently have a 5" backing plate for 5.5" pads. I`m thinking this would probably be the best choice for a 3" plate: 3 Inch Dual Action Flexible Backing Plate

Is there any need for any other plate/pad size? I also see 3.5 inch plates as common- does a 4" pad on a 3.5" plate serve a purpose not served by the 3" and 5" plates and accompanying pads?
