What order do you wash, wax, clay...?

Just wondering. Not product order, but car panel order.

For me:

Washing: Hood, front bumper, then work clockwise

Claying: All horizontal surfaces (hood, roof, trunk, bumpers) these are the hardest parts since they collect the most crud, so I do them first and finish with vertical surfaces clockwise. Then it is not so disheartening when you realize you're only half way done but only have the "easy" parts to clay. :)

Waxing/glazing: 1/2 hood (if it has a center line, if not the whole hood) Then work counter-clockwise around and then other half of hood. Why? It's kinda neat to compare 1/2 waxed/glazed hood to the other at the end of waxing to see what you've accomplished.

I suppose this is all opinion, but I wonder if washing it in one order is better than others?

I would say it is a matter of preference. The only thing I would consider is to make sure you rince the panel before moving to the next one.

When I set out to wash and wax a car I take it one panel at a time. I pretend that that one panel is all I have to do for the day. I wash it and then rinse it. then move onto the next panel. It works out great no soap dries on the car and if it is sunny outside I just keep hosing the car down so that the water doesn't dry in the sun. :up

Ha, whichever panel I see first gets washed first. I wash a side, then rinse... unless its too hot in which case I will hold the hose over the panel I am working on to get it done faster. :xyxthumbs
