What makes rotary & PC pads different?

What is the difference between pads for the PC and a rotary?

I have a friend of mine who has a B&D rotary for me, and I want to know if I can use the same pads for both? I already have pads for the PC.
But if pads for a rotary will work on both then I will get extra rotary pads
If not, I was wondering what makes them different?

TIA

Yes you can, but you need a bigger bacdking plate. See Dwaye for a larger one to handle 7.5-8" pads.

Use them all the time.

The pad materials are usually the same.
What varies is the diameter of the pads.
Most of the time lately I use the exact same pads for both machines.
The smaller (6 or 6 1/2") pads do not generate as much friction or heat so the rpms need to be kicked up a little on the rotary.
I am currently converting over to the Edge 2000 system for both machines.
If you are going to be doing a lot of heavy duty paint correction, I would recommend going with the 8 or 9" pads on the rotary, but most stuff can be handled with the others and there is less of a learning curve.

Errr ahhh strike what I said. I assumed rotary to PC. Using PC pads on a rotary are OK for a short time. They don't cover much area, but good for close quater work.

You really want the 7.5" Lake pads or the newer Lakes that Dwayne has which are very nice!

If you have a good rotary, don't go cheap on pads! Rotaries can inflict more damage to finishes!
