What LC pads to buy

Gonna order some 7.5" LC pads from the Pakshak.First time buying pads for my PC.I was going to order ;

1 black

2 white

1 orange

1 yellow

Is the orange pad really necessary.Is it not a medium cutting pad?As far as the black pad goes,isn't just to apply your LSP.If I apply my LSP by hand a finishing pad is not realy needed,correct.

BTW,the products I plan to use are

Megs#83

Megs#80

SSR#1

SSR#2.5

Klasse AIO

MegNXT

Megs #16

What do you guys think a good combo of pads would be for those products.

Megs 83-you can try using the LC orange first and if that doesnt help then use the yellow.any noticable hazing can be removed with white LC pad using #80.the PB polishes you have are good to use in the sun and like the megs polishes you can go from 2.5 and then 1 to take care of any hazing issues. AIO can be used by an LC white pad and then you can either top off with NXT or #16

If it were me tho my process would be as follows:

SSR2.5/1>AIO>NXT/#16 all by PC

Another one you can try also is to go from #80/2.5 and if theres no hazing then AIO/LSP

others users may chime in and give their input but if you do a search its been covered and theres a couple of good threads on polishes and pad selections.hope this helps

Apart from the black finishing pad, you'll need altleast two or three of each other pads, regardless of choice. After a couple of panels a pad gets too loaded up or gummed with product. You'll either need to clean it properly (a little difficult) or replace it and keep working (easier).

You'd rairly need a yellow pad...orange pads are good for the more damaged finishes and finishing off with white. Otherwise, the white pads are suited to most needs.

Just remember, the LC white pads are more aggressive light-polishing pads than the Sonus/Propel green and megs yellow polishing pads.

I'd go:

3x orange

3x white

1x black

My list of Sonus pads are as follows:

1 Yellow

1 Orange

3 Green

2 Blue

Products:

SSR 2.5 --> Green or Orange

SSR 1 --> Green

MMPP ---> Blue

I would forget the yellow for now as I agree with Paul that the orange would take care of most of the damage paint you would come across. As far as which I would get is 2 orange 2 white and 1 black. I would add a green or replace 1 orange for thoes swrils that don't come out with the white. Use #83 or SSR2.5 with the orange. #80 or SSR1 with the white or green for tougher swirlls. AIO works best with white. NXT and #16 use the black. If you really like to apply wax by hand then you can forget the black for now. I find that using the PC to apply liquid wax with very light cleaners like NXT works better if your not polishing the car first.

Rocky,

Something to consider- you may experience a lot more vibration assuming you are using a 7" backing plate with those 7.5" pads.

If your PC has the smaller of the counter weights you could experience even greater vibration.:eek:

As DavidB says in his PC how to article,"the lighter the backing plate and pad combination the more efficient the machine will be."

I have the PC #7336SP from Lowes.I believe that comes with the 6" weight.I was also going with a 6" backing plate.Thanks for all the replies.
