hello, i just placed my order for some products today and this is going to be my first time using these products so i wanted to ask for your advice on how to use them and whats the best technique to get the most out of the products. consider such things as cure time, how many layers, what speed to set the PC on and which pad.

the products are:

PB's ssr 2.5

PB's ssr1

Klasse AIO

4* UPP

PB's Natty's

all advice is welcome and appreciated. thank you.

I should start off by saying... how do you want to use these products? Hand? Orbital? Cyclo? Rotary?

I'm not an expert by far, but have been using PB SSR2 and SSR1 a lot on my 350Z and a ford explorer, both red paint. I didn't know how to use it myself and finally figured out a process that works for me, with the particular scratches I was dealing with.

What ended up working was this- I used a wool pad on a rotary machine and ran it lightly until all the PB was gone, and cleaned the pad off. Then I switched to the PC and the yellow pad, and went to PB SSR1 and ran that back and forth till it was gone. At that point I had a nice finish, but a few hard to see swirls and scratches that only I could see. I went to the white polishing pad and AIO. That made a major improvement in looks. It was suddenly very close to done. I went over it with SG on a black finishing pad since its easier than taking off by hand. My final step was the P21S wax, and that is my normal process when I get some swirls on my car.

My main lesson when using these polishes is to work the product until its just about completely gone and back off on the pressure at that point. At first I was applying too much pressure, and then just quitting after a while without letting the product disappear. I didnt get any good results that way.

AIO- Slightly damp pad (water), speed 3-4.5. Don't use too much, I don't work it too long. If it's hard to remove use a little (*very* little) more AIO and wipe off while still wet.

4* UPP- Dry pad (keep away from water!), same speed if by PC but I do it by hand so I can apply it *very* thin. Let it set up for a while, the longer it sets up the easier it wipes off. I do a few layers at least 24 hours apart (or one after each wash, but watch for water!) and I don't top it.

Accumulator

I've used UPP with an EO W&S sprtzed sponge for application - rather like CMA recommends combined with BN's WOWO for AIO with very successful results just before a show. No appearance let-down obvious.....

Gonzo - yeah, I can see that working too. What drives me nuts is when the UPP mixes with a little water and results in white spots where the UPP cures/dries funny.

i have the following pads and i was wondering which pad for which product: Meguiar's soft buff 1 cutting, 2 polishing, and 1 finishing. My car's new, the paint color is white, and it has minor swirling. also how do you clean your pads to get the longevity out of them?
