What is you average goal for details/wash weekly?

I am trying to see how my mobile detailing business is doing compared to others. I feel as if i am not making enough or possibly just wanting more out of it and don't know how to achieve it right now.

My average week is:

6 hand wash $40/car

3 wash/wax $80/car

2 full detail $250/car

The tips I am looking for is how can i set up a schedule to do more work, in a good amount of time, i have the clients but with weather not the best its hard to plan when it rains and hate to have to re arrange appointments etc.

Should i look for more office type buildings/ doctors or lawyers to just do mainly hand washes but ALOT every day to make 300-350 daily?

Any tips would be great.

I am not a pro but I will mention this as an observation. Most professional detailers probably don't look at their goals as I want to do this many washes, this many wash and waxes, this many semi details and this many full details. My guess is most look at it as I want to make XXX amount this week and I try to make XX per hour I work whether is is a "lowly" wash or a sexy 4 step polish for a concours detail. While I am sure the full details are more satisfying, I am guessing many would recognize washes and wash and waxes as an effective way to keep in touch with regular customers to make sure they stay loyal to you and to just put money in the pocket.

I look at the bottom dollar per day, doesnt matter what I do - washes suck though as I dont charge enough for them and am still over the competition. wash and waxes, I can get 8 done in a day, one step exteriors, I can get two done in a day, three step, I can get one done in a day on a smaller car.

BUT, if someone wants to basically rent me out per day, I do that too...say XXX and Ill do whatever to whatever car in a certain time frame (basically a flat day rate based on an hourly rate)

If you want to keep slammed no matter what the weather does, go get some used car dealerships as customers. They will keep you busy.

I can see where washes would not be too profitable, there are so many car washes around driving the market price down but it is a service you have to offer unfortunately.

For the mobile detailer, it seems like car wash only jobs would really hurt. You only get a small fee but it still took you time and fuel to get there. I believe Scott has mentioned he will only do washes if he has more than one car to do just to make it worth the trip.

Yes on the hand wash end the 6 a week is all at one establishment, about 20 min from my house so it's not too bad, but i am going to be contracting with a few dealerships and tint shops as well this coming season.

I typically try and get 20-25 cars a week .. just typical in/out for $40...I'd rather do volume so I can build up my clientele list a bit more. If it is a wax etc my partner and I do it and split it 50/50. Gym's can be a great place to set up. hope this helps!
