What is the best detergent for MF's and towels?

I only use a tiny bit of detergent in my "towel loads" when I clean my towels/MF's. Problem is, sometimes they seem cleaner than other times, maybe its just me. I typically use Tide (orignal, no additives) and the hot water setting. Just trying to gather some info on what you gentleman use.

Maybe its just time to replace all my towels and MF's.

What are you saying your problem is? That they aren't clean? That they don't absorb?

Yes they dont seem clean. I have noticed some are streaking a little too. Mostly the MF's.

Try taking a few dirty ones and boil them in hot water with some APC in it....and then rewash them...see if they come cleaner or streak less....

When my towels get real dirty from grease or tar...or just filthy looking...I boil them with water and APC and you actually see the scum on the surface of the water....dump the water first to not recontaminate the towels..and wash with Tide free and you should be set....

Boiling them will NOT hurt them....it does give them a new life...be surprised how clean they come out...

I really hate to post this :o but...this topic is really worth the dreaded search. We've discussed this topic to death (and had some pretty serious disagreements) and AFAIK we all decided "whatever works for you".

But doing the final rinse with distilled white vinegar is universally accepted as a good idea and you won't hurt them with hot water (so go ahead and try boiling them). FWIW, I do some MF washes in regular detergent and some in "MF detergents", which tend to work better *for me*.
