Woodworking
I was really introduced to woodworking in high school when I was a freshman in 1966.....yea, yea, I know I'm OLD....but there are worse alternatives!! :nana:
I've always enjoyed working with my hands and I've often said; no one does it better than me so I'm the chief cook and bottle washer when it comes to the homestead.
I've built a ton of furniture through the years, mostly for my wife and I but I have done work for others mostly family and close friends. Woodworking is part passion and part skill.
The Shed
My shed didn't start off that big but when I eyed up all the lawn and garden equipment, the detailing products and equipment, and of course my wife decided that she needed her own gardening section for all her stuff, it grew into what you see today...The main section of the shed is 12 X 16 and the smaller section is an additional 8 X 8, so it ended up at 250 square feet.
I built that shed in 2009 and kept very close track of costs. The entire shed cost me just under $3,000 to build including paint and stain. It's construction is solid and I didn't skimp, I wanted it to be strong and last. The base is pressure treated 2 X 6 with a double layer of 3/4" pressure treated plywood for the floor.
Cars & Detailing
Naturally being a guy, cars very quickly came into the picture and I started racing in the mid 70's at New England Dragway, Epping NH. With cars came mechanic work, bodywork, and painting, some custom lacquer jobs which I really enjoyed doing..Sort of like the 1st amendment; Freedom of Speech and Expression.....and or course detailing, we can't forget that..
Guns & Shooting
Shooting has always been another lifelong passion and precision shooting became an obsession much like detailing! I did most of my gun-smithing along with the help of some precision tool & die makers when I needed that sort of skill.
One activity that I got a kick out of was egg shooting....We would fixture 5 ordinary brown eggs in a row 6" apart for each shooter at 200, 300, and 400 yards and when the line officer said; "commence firing".
Each shooter had a spotter to count the number of shots fired to take out all 5 eggs and a score was given......fun, fun, fun!! :bigups You should see what a brown egg looks like at 400 yards....we sprayed them fluorescent orange!
Kubota Tractor
I bought this machine for around the yard, boys and toys, for grading my dirt driveway and doing just about anything I need it to do including plowing snow. It's still at the tractor place and they'll deliver it in the spring..got to see how many holes I can dig!!
