What I did this weekend

I started to clean my garage to prepare for my car and 18 hours later I ended up with this. Currently nearly everything that was in my garage is in my house. I can't move most things back in for 48 hours and I can't drive on it for 7 days.

Cost $148

2 Kits @ $58ea

2 Gal White Paint @ $16gal

This produce has been posted before but I'm sure there are many new members that haven't seen it.

All I am seeing is red x's where you posted the products.

What did you use and how long do these coatings typically last? I have a home that is only 1.5 years old and have been thinking about doing this to my garage as well.

That is a great transformation!

Kinda makes me want to do it! What exactly are the advantages of having that floor?

According to Rust-Oleum

The Ultimate Garage Floor

Get the kind of showroom-quality garage floor that will make you the talk of the neighborhood

Long-lasting performance

Protects against gasoline, antifreeze, motor oil, salt and hot tire pick-up

Easy to keep clean

It is very important that you clean VERY well before applying this. I cleaned 6 times until I could rub my finger across the floor and not pickup dust. Prep is much harder then application.

Kick ***! That looks 1000% better doesn't it? I am actually going to finish mine up tonight or tomorrow. I only got half done before we had a wicked cold snap here and I have been dying to finish it up! I just bought a muscle car so I have to finish it to store my new project.

You have achieved the nicest chip distribution I've ever seen in an Epoxy Floor Job.

Congratulations...that isn't easy.

Thanks, Actually I was very lucky I didn't run out of the chips. I have a double car garage so I purchased 2 kits. I only used 1/3 of the epoxy from the second kit but 100% of the paint chips. :p

Now that the floor looks so perfect you're going to have to build a closet to hide the water heater!

:D It's the paint chips that you sprinkle over the epoxy.

Great Job! I'm assuming that you sprinkled the chips "as" you were applying the coating. Is that correct?

Also, how many square feet per kit and cost?

Thanks

I don't like the idea of not being able to park my cars for a week. So, thinking of doing half the garage at a time. Any thoughts on that, if that would be a viable option? The results look fantastic!

In another thread in another part of the universe some guy was kvetching about people who do their garage floor. Lots of ***'ing and bluster about what's wrong with a plain concrete floor.

Having done mine and with so many being done that we discuss here...I have to say that until you've done your floor you can't imagine how nice it is and how much nicer it makes your whole house.

I guess I could be over stating...but my garage is right up front in my house and people see it. I see it. It's warmer...cleaner...nicer all around. Life is just plain better with a nice garage floor !

Just my philosophy of life on a 4 degree and dropping night.
