What flea and tick repellant do you use on your pet?

We've tried K9 Advantix three times on our Shih Tzu and had scary side effects. The first time was fine but the second (lethargic for 2 days) and third (panting and restless) resulted in side effects. We actually stopped using it after the second application 6 months ago but applied it again last night after finding a tick on her. She woke me up at 2am and 4am panting. We are going to stop using it and look into trying Frontline Plus. Any thoughts?

Frontline Plus is very safe and does not share common ingredients with Advantix. The only side effects I've seen is mild irritation at the site of application (rare). In this part of the country (Eastern North Carolina) its efficacy on fleas is questionable, but in New Jersey it should do the trick. I base these comments on prescribing it for years. :D

We use Frontline but it's so damn expensive. We buy it from Petco. It costs about $55. I saw it at a local pet show for $30 but didnt buy it.

Based on everything I've read online and on forums Frontline Plus seems like a great choice. I'll pay whatever it cost, but getting the best deal helps. Now I think I might have to find a new vet because they swear by Advantix. Thanks again!!!

Were are using Frontline right now, used Advantix before with good results. We get ours from as military vet so it's pretty cheap.

Frontline Plus! I import it every year and it works beautifully, with no side effects (and Japan is infested with every kind of insect life you can imagine). My dog does live mostly inside, though, FWIW.

I have been using Frontline Plus on my dog since he was a pup 10 years ago, and I work for the company who makes it too..unfortunately I get no free samples :)

My only concern about buying it online is that it's not really Frontline. I've read that some sites sell a fake version. I just want to make sure they are legit sites.
