What finishes down finer? ZPC or 106FF?

Hi guys,

I'm going to use a light polish on my 325i. Do you know which will finish down finer with either a polishing or finishing pad?

Zaino ZPC or Menzerna 106FF

Cheers!

Why is 106FF so expensive? What pads would you use 106FF with on a PC, something like a LC White pad?

Menz is expensive because it is the best and I guess thats the way it goes :chuckle:

yes white pad is perfect for a PC

white works best for me. But take into consideration I use a light cut compound first with a rotory, then use the pc/white pad on PC. Expensive because it is Menzerna SRC final finish with a gloss of 5.0 and it lasts for a long time.

I may have to order some for those softer black paints when micromarring is being created, as I have heard 106FF is an extremely fine polish that will help remove this

I'd say the black pad is way too soft used on the PC and may even be too soft on the rotary.

I use the Wolfgang (LC) black pad to finish with the rotary all the time--it works best for my process. I find that if a pad is too soft and "compresses" under the weight of the rotary (i.e. the LC/SM Arnold/AB blue) that it will create a "vortex" or twisting of the pad. This twisting will not allow the polish to finish as clean. The black LC pad is firm enough to not do this, while delicate enough to finish perfectly. Does that make sense? What pad do you normally finish with via rotary and 106FF?

If were going to use 106FF on the pc for a light polish, I would use a white low-profile pad.

BTW, to the OP, the 106FF will finish better IMO.

If it works then it makes sense!:D I was using the Meguiar's 9006 but now use the LC CCS green or blue. I may give the black a shot with my car and see how it goes. Man I'm lovin' the green CCS pads.;)

I should have mentioned those--finishing with the green CCS pad is a breeze. Funny to me that the green is supposed to be more aggressive than the white, but I find it easier to finish with the green. Go figure....

Have you had any delamination issues with the 6.5" CCS pads? A few of mine delaminated after about 5 uses. I bought them from CMA (with the blue constant pressure foam) and they offered to replace them, but I haven't time to send them back.

:( Are those the same pads that you are using?

You're using a PC for finishing correct?

Yeah, looking at the LC site there are 3 pads that are less aggressive than the green and that just doesn't make sense does it?

No problems with these pads so far. They all came from AG and have the black looping on them. Interesting that I do see pad distortion when compounding with the yellow pad. They go back to normal after being washed.

When I detailed this black porsche ZPC had more cut with white LC pad/PC6 then 106ff/green excel pad/rotary. Maybe I should of tried the 106ff with the white pad on the rotary.

I had no complaints on the way that ZPC finished down on the porsche black.

I bought glue to fix the cma pads. That is their weak side. Maybe I should send them back.
