Re: Poll: What do you use your polisher for?

Polishing is basically what I use it for, but if I already have it out, I will sometimes use it to apply a LSP. Rarely do I use it for that.
My most used LSPs are Duragloss 601/105 and Optimum Opti-Seal.
Not too practical to apply with a polisher. :)

Other than polishing and applying LSP, I have used mine for carpet scrubbing (when I had the Cyclo) and other household chores where the polisher can help.

Good point.
Carpet brushes are available for the PC, but I always felt the machine would be too large and awkward to use inside the vehicle.
That and the fact that I don't have carpet dirty enough to need a lot of scrubbing kept me from buying the brushes.

My wife was so proud of me for not buying something. :D

I use mine for everything. Waxing, polishing, removing polish, removing wax, glass, paint, chrome... everything. Well, everything on the outside. I've never used it on the carpets or anything like that. I guess that could work.

I also use mine for polishing the windows in my shower and the inside of my bathtub upstairs. With three kids it gets dirty pretty quick, but I've actually found that polishing the sides and giving it the ole Klasse Twins treatment (just on the sides, not on the bottom) it stays much cleaner much longer and is way easier to maintain. That is a twice a year sort of project. Same with the shower downstairs.

Many times that power scrubbing is required it's usually floor mats which are removed and placed in a wide open area to perform the work or SUVs or mini van where the seat can be removed giving easy access to the carpets.

I used my 3403 and my UDM for sanding. I removed the clear coat off of my winter rims to repaint them. It went a lot faster than sandblasting and was a lot easier than hand sanding them.

The sanding was something I totally forgot about. :wall
I mean like it is a sander, right?
I did use it to sand off the carpet adhesive residue when I replaced the carpet on my pontoon boat several years back.
Worked great.

Polishing primarly. But I have considered picking up some of the glossing pads for applying waxes/sealants.

Never did pick up the carpet brush attachments. Still toil away with a nylon brush when necessary.

I can believe that she was shocked that you actually passed up on a chance to own another piece of detailing equipment. :rofl

please tell me you are just kidding.....
Nope about 3 years ago I was buffing on the rear of my Corvette and that portion is made of hard rubber it heats really fast much faster than working with metal and I burnt the paint.
I had that repainted and replaced some weather stripping while it was their at a cost of $ 2500.00
Just the 1 piece of weatherstripping the goes over the top at the back portion cost 500 bucks just for the 1 piece.
I replaced the steering wheel because the leather was showing a little wear cost was 500 bucks. I don't think they have any parts for a Corvette for less than 500 dollars

Reminds me of the guy the other day that said he once owned a Honda 100.
I asked him if he was talking about a motorcycle.
He said, "No,it was a car, but every time I took it in for service it cost $100".

Well I guess I could call my car a Corvette 500 :rofl

I few years ago I removed the pulley on the AC pump to replace it with a custom made wider pulley the wider belt was needed to pull the supercharger so all the pulleys had to be changed.

The external snap ring went flying when I removed it and after looking for it for a half hour I decided to just get another one.

Next time I was in town I stopped at my local Chevrolet dealer and they wanted $ 15.95 for the snap ring, I went to the ACE Hardware and bought one for 25 cents .:) they had a huge selection of rings and I found one that fit perfectly :bigups

We live and learn and I did not know that the rear piece that holds the tail lights on a C4 was made of hard rubber.

When I put my rotary to it I instantly burnt the paint when I talked to a friend who works at Chevy body shop he said OH yes you must be very careful it is rubber and will not dissipate the heat. :surrender :violin:

I voted for polishing and applying wax but the last time I used my PC was in my bathroom shower stall. My PC , white poilishing pad, and SSR 3 did wonders on some water etching problems that had developed.

I know my wife was impressed.:lol2::eek::howdy

I have been going to do that also.
I think I will try to get around to doing it tomorrow.

I have a tub shower combo and the sliding doors need some good polishing to remove water spotting
