What do you guys use over your high-gloss wood interior trim?

Yup fast interior is my go to now for very light dirt/ dust for interiors. No streaking, works nicely on LCD nav displays etc.
You could also protect with a Klasse Sealant Glaze or similar product if its coated wood trim.

Used this on my dad`s 2015 Impala interior pieces.

Figured why not as it says it can be used on interior plastics on the box

Gave it a polish first to remove some scratches with Rupes nano being it used to be a former rental car.

I use a product like McKee`s 37 fast interior detailer or Meguiar`s quik interior detailer for weekly wipedowns.

I guess I am wondering if you could just use the same quality wax on your interior high gloss wood that you would use in the exterior of your car...

I used Megs Quick Interior Detailer on the glosd wood in my wife`s BMW. Worked great.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Matte wood or wood in good shape just get whatever QD I am using on the outside of the car - Megs Last Touch or OID usually.

If it needs a little brightening up I have had good results with D151 worked in carefully with an MF towel.

I prefer Optimum OptiClean as a maintenance product for all non-fabric interior surfaces. I`ve done polish and wax steps on the wood trim when I`m feeling ambitious and the OC, since it`s actually a waterless wash product, doesn`t compromise the wax.

I use onr swift detail strength wipe off dirt and dust wet 2nd towel buff dry. Been using the limitless edgeless towel and loving it.

When you say "polished" wood trim, I am assuming you are NOT talking about plastic fake wood, like that found on some many "inexpensive" vehicles today.
Cannot say I`ve run across a lot of real wood, but I use S100 (P21S clone) carnauba wax on the pieces I have.
I also see those of you who are fortunate enough to have the Rupe`s Nano Polisher using it with 1" diameter pads on wood pieces.

My question is: Is REAL wood clear varnished or lacquered as a finish, and can you "polish" it with a fine paint polish like Car-Pro Essence or Menzerna SF+ 3800??
I do know that Swissvax makes a wood-specific product for that trim. Not sure if Polish Angel has a product (or is developing) for REAL wood trim.

On fake wood, since it is plastic, I use Meg`s plastic cleaner (No.17) and polish (No.10) with a suede microfiber by hand. I`ve also used Plexus Plastic Polish spray as a one-step polish/cleaner on plastic trim, again with a suede microfiber.

Lonnie- All the wood in my vehicles has been clearcoated with *something* but I don`t know just what it is (I assume the Jag has some kind of old lacquer though). IME the clear is always thin and fragile, and while it can be corrrected I wouldn`t do it very aggressively or very often. In fact, I *don`t* do it much at all as I don`t want to have to think about refinishing such stuff.

Other than maybe the S8, I guess my interior wood isn`t very "Autopian", but for daily drivers with many years/miles I`m OK with basically "just clean and shiny", which is easy enough using an Interior QD. Guess that`s why I *still* haven`t used up that tiny jar of Zymol Detail (sold as Interior Wood Wax under the store name by the old BHMA outfit), which hasn`t gone bad yet despite its cap having been cracked since the mid-`80s.

Nope, not fake wood - very nice, very glossy (overcoat) wood.

I am, at present, just using the same Pinnacle Souveran over the glossy wood as I do the exterior of the car.

Was just wondering if there was something made exclusively for the glossy overcoat to the wood in the interiors of our cars.

Yeah, it`s likely polyurethane or whatever the automotive equivalent is. However, I think some of the optional Audi woods are un-coated.

I always used Zymol`s wood product over poly`d wood in my cars.

Speaking of REAL wood, as a side note for those of you who have bird`s-eye maple trim or steering wheels (Like the Lexus 460).
Most of that wood comes from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan or northern Wisconsin. There is a wholesaler and buyer of this wood called Bird`s Eye Creations in the UP of Michigan Keweenaw Peninsula in the small town of Mohawk, just off of Hwy 41. If you ever take a road trip up their some time, stop in: it`s worth the visit to see the wood and the items that the local craft-person`s make. They made and supplied the "cores" for the steering wheels and shift knobs exclusively to Lexus. A good trunk from a tree can cost between $3,000 to $5,000 for a 100 board-feet of lumber, depending on it`s grain structure. Buying even what appeared as a small rough-sawn throw-away wooden piece was $5.00 as a souvenir. At that time they had a lot of cores for shift knobs. When asked why, they said it was a target of those cars by break-in thieves. Not the car, just the shift knob.

Treat it all like plastic. Don`t hate me for saying this. :P

unless its untreated wood, then.. well it will crack or not fit in one year. lol

recently worked with resin/plastic stabilized wood.

Do they still call it Detail?

I only know that my BHMA stuff is that product because of the Zymol Eagle on the bottom of the jar.

I suspect they do. I bought a fresh jar (very small) maybe two years ago. It appeared to still be the same product we`re familiar with.

tom p.- Despite our satisfaction with the (presumed) Zymol Detail, I can`t help but wonder if it`s really anything special. My inner cynic thinks it`s just another paste wax and that Souveran would work just as well.
