What do you guys like to use on....

On certain cars, the ones that come to mind, are MB and BMW, where the cars have half of the sides with plastic material, similarily painted to match or compliment the rest of the vehicle. If the car is charcoal then this plastic type material would be painted a grey colour. I don't know if you want to call it cladding, but its a pretty big surface area, and I am not talking about ribbing like on some MB, but its a real smooth area. I've usually not used wax on it, just QD, and thats it. Flinging from tire dressing to this area really becomes obvious, but QD help, but just to a point. I guess this area has been for me a good fling test area on new products.

So what have you found you prefer to use on this material?

What models are we talking about? Are you referring to some kind of trim or body kits which are painted identical to the steel panels?

Post pics or give us specific info and we can comment.

Tire dressings should not sling if applied properly.

I have always treated it exactly the same as the rest of the car, and I think most people do as well.

It is still painted and can still be waxed.

Look at the 300e cars from MB. They all have the lower half covered with this plastic cladding which gives the car a less bulgey and more sleek look, at least that was the intention of the manufacturer. I would paste a picture here if I could, but I don't know how. The last time I tried just posting a small photo of an unusual detailing item I was told I was limited to 1048576 bytes. So I don't understand how those great photos of cars get on here, but a lousy picture of a pamphlet, is too big. But anyway the car, I know you've seen hundreds, before.

OK, I get it now.

Painted plastic thats glossy and looks/feels like paint on steel gets the same treatment as steel.

Color-molded plastics like body cladding on SUV's gets a water-based protectant. Check carefully to see if the cladding is textured and keep waxes and polishes away if it is.
