What do I use to detail, my uh, uh, garden water hose?

This is an odd question but I use the cheaper vinyl garden hoses around my house and they always turn black with what I am sure is some sort of mildew? I guess? I on occasion, spray them with a bleach coctail and of course they look fine for a lil while after, but then not too long and their all funky black again, my hoses hang in direct sunlight most of the time. Is their anything I can use to keep them looking nice? Sorry for the odd question but has someone who likes to keep their stuff looking good, its weird to have to use a funky hose to wash a car...

Pretty much the best thing you can do to control mildew is to keep the area dry. so I guess if you really care about it, you can wipe the hose dry after each use.

Maybe QD it after each use.

Give it a coat or two of 845.

Use the Eco$mart model

105/205

:D

I wipe my hoses down with a wet/damp terry towel periodically. I use black rubber hoses so they get some UV breakdown or something and black stuff will rub off on you after a while. You can spray some APC on the towel to help. Of course you live in the bayou or something--that place is brutal! Years ago I spent a night in Gulfport and couldn't believe the corrosion on the doorknob to the motel room!

I use the no-kink hoses and they don't seem to ever get dirty or look old to me, really happy with them.

In your situation, anything that would clean the mildew from your shower walls should work here.

In motels like that, that ain't corrosion on the doorknob.

No, actually after Katrina, when we got our *** handed to us with 6ft of flood water in our house, we wised up and moved north to a different state. I live far away from any water now except the water coming out of my hose :cooleek: And it seems these get damp from dew almost every day so that may be the source but they also get direct HOT sunlight...go figure.
