I'll take a picture outside for everyone.
This car's paint is how I found Autopia. It looked like whoever repainted it (25 years ago), didn't do a good job of doing the final polishing. It was covered in a haze and fine scratches.
I bought the car because everything else was in really good shape on it. Drove nice, etc..
I was searching the web looking for help and came across this site. Through the help of fellow Autopians, this car's paint was taken from being absolutely terrible looking to how it looks now. I receive a continuous stream of "nice paint" comments at car shows. Local car guys now describe me as a "Professor of Waxology" and bring their cars to me.
It could not have been done without the help of everyone here. I'm creating a storyboard that lists what is in the car for the bigger car shows. I intend to put
Paint by Autopians on it. In my class, I'm up against cars that cost up to $60,000 and $70,000. They get me in the high-dollar, high-tech department but the DON'T GET ME IN THE PAINT DEPARTMENT. I tell them the car's paint is 25 years old (which will also be in the storyboard) and these guys about FALL OVER.
You can't believe how poor some of the finishes look on those cars.
But Autopia also got me "hooked". I am continously trying to find any new trick to get this thing higher on the "shiny scale". It is definitely an obsession. A good one, though...
