What color LS 400 to buy?

I am going to buy a used Lexus LS or GS 400 with relatively low mileage (something under 100K and probably closer to 60-70K) and don't know what color to get. Black and gold are not even under consideration. White and silver would be ok if the car was perfect but they are not my first choices either. I want a darker color to show off my hard work but not willing to go all the way with black. I am leaning toward dark green metallic. What would you recommend? Also, is there a reason you would pay a couple of thousand more to get the LS over the GS. I would also consider an LS from the mid 90's if the mileage is low and the paint is in near autopian condition.

well ive owned 2 gs' now and the reason ive picked the gs over the LS is because the gs is the more sportier looking of the two. I llike the LS and they are loaded but it just looks like something my mom would drive. I don't have anything against any LEXUS models I don't think I'd own anything else but Ive always leaned more towards the gs. I would also think the gs has a more sports car like suspension as compared to the LS.

first gs was pearl white with a beige interior and I will never buy a light colored leather interior again. once the leather starts aging and the cracks start showing dirt seems to get trapped in them pretty easily. also, the light leather starts to show wear rather quickly.

This new gs is silver with black interior and my recommendation is to go with black leather. wear & tear is not as noticeable with this color.

IMO the dark green metallic would be a nice choice and would really show off your work.

The LS and GS are *very* different cars. I like the LS looks-wise (I prefer very conservative looking sedans) but they're *WAY* too "soft" for me or my wife. A good, well-equipped GS would be a nice driver, especially with the V8.

Accumulatorette, commenting on a Lexus LS that wouldn't let me pass on the WVA turnpike: "Why does it lean over so much on the curves? No wonder he has to go so slow..."

Color: Dark blue or Cinnabar red are gorgeous on the GS. I believe the LS had similar color options.

LS v. GS: The GS is sportier looking, but handling-wise, it ain't no BMW either. Stock, it has floaty drive to it. There is, however, a very wide selection of aftermarket performance parts for it. The first thing I did when I got mine was to replace the stock sway bars. The new bars really improved roll stiffnes.

I've never driven the LS so I can't comment much. But an LS400/430 is almost as fast a GS400/430. The interior, of course, is much, much larger--especially the rear seats. Good luck with your decision.

The Cypress Green is my favorite on the LS. Cinnabar or Black on the GS.

Dark Blue on either car looks great...

A friend of mine has a black 400 (dad's car, comes from money, you know the drill), which looks like total hell right now. I'd go for the green metallic if I were you, it looks almost a good as black, and is infintetly easier to maintain.

I really appreciate the input. What color interior comes on the Dark Blue and the Cinnabar Red? I assume the dark green metallic has a tan interior - is this a dark enough color leather to not show the dirt and wear real easily? I definitely would be concerned about too light of a color leather....especially on a 90's model year.

Dad's got a Cinnabar GS400. Great car...not a problem since we bought it new in 98 (first year of the "bubble" bodystyle). The color is killer. On the LS, my pick is black, but be warned.....Single stage paint is SOFT. My mom has an 01 LX470 in black, and it swirls easily.
